Vatican: Pope to stay in hospital (avoids condi rice visit, thank God)

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/02/07/pope.health/index.html

-snip-

ROME, Italy (CNN) -- Pope John Paul II will remain in hospital for a few more days..................... adding that his condition continues to improve.

On Saturday, a delegation of Catholic bishops met the pontiff and later told reporters that he was eager to return to work.

But he will not meet U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice when she visits the Vatican Tuesday, U.S. sources said. Instead, Rice will meet with Vatican officials Cardinal Angelo Sodano and Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo to discuss peace in the Middle East and religious freedom in Iraq.

1. I'm glad he's not wasting his fragile health on Condi!
Didn't the pope say that Bush was the anti Christ awhile back? Was that a rumor or is their some truth to it?

10. LOL on the photo
He's probably going "Lord help us all." What is Bush reading? I'm glad he's staying in the hospital. I wonder if he planned that (staying in extra) because of Condi's visit.

3. Yes, I read that in a European
online newspaper. I don't think any of that was printed in US media.

Ole John Paul may be old and sick, but he's not too sick to notice the Anti-Christ when he sees him.

Also, the Pope could be dead for all we know. All we heard was that his "condition has stabilized" over the weekend. But no word from him. Strange.

put on your tinfoil hat until we see proof that he's alive. I'm adjusting mine as we speak.

Did you ever see the B movie A Weekend at Bernie's? I hope the vatican isn't that desperate but who knows?:tinfoilhat: :tinfoilhat:

9. I think you could be right. He may
be dead for all we know.....while the Vatican puts its thinking cap to try to decide what's next.....

Those guys are incredibly S--L--O----W. They take forever to make decisions. In reality, they do so much stalling, so that maybe the problem will go away before they make a decision on it.

Anyway, no I haven't seen it but I'll rent it if it's a good movie.
Thanks, V. :smoke:

13. No, it's not a great movie. Just kind of funny. Two guys carry around
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 03:56 PM by Verve
this dead guy for the weekend so they could continue staying at the dead guy's vacation home. They prop the dead guy up at parties, they maneuver the dead guy's arm so it appears that he's waving at friends while they were using his boat, etc. etc.

For all we know the pope could have died years ago. It often looks like someone is maneuvering him from behind when he's waving up on the balcony. LOL

14. Condaleeza is a Catholic, isn't she?
Maybe the Vatican is making a subtle statement. OTOH maybe they just want to keep his holiness resting.

15. Wasn't her father a preacher?
And, wouldn't she be struck down by a lightning bolt if she set foot in the Vatican?

16. I swear I read it someplace, however, a quick google search came
up with nothing, including the fact that her father is a preacher. Maybe I had her confused with someone else. Thanks for keeping me honest. :-)
