Are Americans even DUMBER than we thought?
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 01:45 AM by Jack_Dawson
Say it ain't so...

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-02-07-bush-poll_x.htm

How badly do you need to fuck up? How deep do you need to bury the dollar? How horrific a deficit do you need to ring up? I mean can you imagine Clinton doing 1/10 of what this dumbass does?

4. My first reaction is that Jesusland is bigger than earlier reported
But somehow, the poll seems a little forced. Chalk most of it up to the euphoria caused by the slanted reporting of the elections in Iraq. In a few weeks, it will return to the normal drip drip drip..

7. Agree, it's either or bogus poll (propaganda) or the cult flock has grown
I think it's propaganda, but take your pick. Maybe the *elections* and the theatrics of the SOTU had some effect.

8. I agree about the polls
1/2 the time they are fabricated, or just the Repugs' answers are calculated. As far as * fucking up and America being dumb? The new Amerikkka only sees what it wants to see, only hears want it wants to hear, only says what it wants to. Why do you think they call him the monkey?

10. I believe these polls are as believable as the audience of
"undecided" voters was during the 3rd presidential debate. Remember how WhatsHisFace was surrounded by "newfound adoring decideds" after the debate?

This administration is controlling & would do anything to manipulate public perception.

I have a feeling there are a lot of people being paid off at taxpayers' expense.

Here...I'll ask you "after watching the SOTU last night how did the POS...pResident do?" Now if this is Joe Six Pack who was watching Elimidate or was at the bar, but doesn't want the pollster to think he's out of touch, agrees with the premise that since it was the SOTU, Bunnypants must have done well.

The telling poll that died like a rock was the first CNNservative push poll that they retracted saying 75% of the responants were "Repugnicans"...and of that sample only 60% gave Bunnypants a passing grade. Sheesh.

Sadly there still aren't enough people feeling enough pain. It's due and coming...more families will bury dead, more jobs will be lost, more lives will be ruined until enough people start to get angry and want to push for the major changes needed to just return this country to some semblence of sanity.

The saying is the "squeeky wheel gets the grease"...the right wing media machine is that squeeky wheel. They get heard the most and their opinions are aped, just like the latest fashion trend or popular consumer toy.

We're feeling the effects of 10-years of relentless media baiting and cowering of the mainstream media.

12. Sad, but true..
The media has been bullied and co-opted. And corporatized and sanitized. The results speak for themselves.

But dont get too down. This is a temp thing. The only occurence in the last month that has any long term substance is the re-emergence of Howard Dean. That is the rainbow in the cloud. Just watch how different things are going to look 4 years from now.

13. I'm Far From Down...
As my name states, I believe all things are cyclical and, as you say, it's just a matter of time for things to change. There's a silent "majority" right now that almost got it together last year, is mad as all hell, but just hasn't figured which way to go, yet...but the time is coming.

I can't say who the answer is or if it's even a Democrat at this point, but this regime's arrogance and selfishness will soon start consuming those that feed on it. Soon we'll see infighting as to whose a "true Conservative" and years of ego haggles that were papered over come to the surface.

This will really roll as this war and economic pillage slowly wake more and more people up. We're a ways from the critical max from when that happens...in the meantime, all we can do is prepare to clean up the aftermath.

Always the darkest before the dawn...

Cheers!

17. No, just uneducated and uninformed and lazy about the general political
and financial climate and process that goes on daily around them. It is more important to them to see Scott Peterson suffer than to watch a little C-Span...too boring. And hey, if their local high school is going to cut extracurricular sports if that tax levy does not pass, they don't SEE the long vision of the problem of schools receiving insufficient federal funding for the federal mandates, etc.

Nothing matters to the apathetic masses until it directly affects them...i.e. pocketbook

18. It's mind boggling.
But the average american isn't "on to" the media yet. They still think it's unbiased and a credible source. They watch the news pundits slobbering all over themselves while declaring Bush "hit a grandslam" on the SOTU speech. They see the world through the "filter" that the media provides. Bush was actually the one that called the media a filter, as though they slant the news against him. How ironic is that.

20. Yes, it is true.
There could be an inverse relationship between the the rise in evangelical fundamentalism, and the decline in critical thinking skills.

To "accept" things on faith alone means that you have been trained to believe something without proof, and to hold on to that belief in spite of any evidence to the contrary.

27. Ya, real wierd
Especially when you learn that the 8th letter in the alphabet is H, and the 11th letter is K.

Some right wing groups use these number codes as part of their lingo.

1 1 1 = KKK, and 88 = Heil Hitler.

It is rather odd that so many conservatives would win by the same amount 18181, and it is wierd that bush supporters built the voting machines that recorded these republican victories, but the relationship between those numbers and right wing slang pushes it over the edge.
