DU's KalamazooKid, Head Of World News Trust Radio Division, Hospitalized
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 07:10 AM by Tace
KalamazooKid -- John Wieglein -- a member of Democratic Underground since 2002, has been permanently hospitalized, his family said.

Wieglein has suffered for years from lymphatic cancer. He was head of the World News Trust radio division since late 2002, and was instrumental in launching a prototype WNT 24/7 web news and issues radio station in early 2003.

John was a radio personality and disk jockey in Buffalo during the 1980's and 90's. He is committed to advancing progressive issues and fair reporting of the news.

7. I'm confused. If WNT has been around since 2002
where are the "news" items? How do I listen to the "radio division"?

All I see is a blog and the entries are undated......

13. Hi, The NWT Independent Media Project Started In late 2002...
but ran into a number of difficulties during the second Iraq war in the spring of 2003.

Our computer systems in New York City and Buffalo were hacked, hard-drives destroyed and software programs corrupted, including the streaming web radio server. Our e-mails were blocked and delayed. Our land-line and cell phone calls to each other were blocked. Our attorney mysteriously disappeared with a $2,000 retainer for incorporation and other services. I was attacked from behind with a stun gun and searched by plain-clothed police while walking down a street in Manhattan. Various members of the core team ran into a number of other difficulties as well.

I decided to step back and take the time to consider various aspects of the project. I started it back up after the November elections.

That's why we've been around for two years, but you're not seeing any content. Keep an eye on the blog for updates. I appreciate any suggestions or comments you may have. Cheers.

30. Whoa! Someone is THAT afraid of what you're doing?!
Clearly you must be doing something right, to have pissed Them off that badly! :tinfoilhat:

Come to think of it, this may not be the most opportune time to point out that I used to do noncommercial radio, including news (not production, just "rip 'n' read")... oops... oh cripes... :scared:

9. I wish John only the best - and will pray for him and all those around him
His fantastic knowledge of radio - and of streaming his homebrew radio show - is a fantastic asset for the World News Trust project.

Thanks for posting this, Tace -

John only told me about his leg problem - he never mentioned how serious it was. I knew him as a gentle kind man from Vermont - who helped put truth out on the airways/internet.

It is hard to post on this.

:-(

He has a wife, a computer programmer, and two young sons.

It will be difficult to replace him. Anyone interested in helping out with radio production and broadcasting, please contact me at worldnewstrust@yahoo.com

Cheers
