Help me! When did Chimpy get his first job?
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 10:12 AM by heidiho
Help me to settle an argument. I say that Georgy Boy never worked until the 90's. My friend says that is absolutely not true.

I maintain that after he went AWOL and graduated from Harvard Business School (that's a sad thought) that he did nothing until his daddy got him the job at Harken Oil because he was VP.

So what did he do in the years between cocaine and the 90's?

Anyone know for sure? I've got money riding on this one.

4. He started a company...
...ran it in the ground, but I'm not sure of the year. The name "shrub" comes from the name he gave to his company. He wanted to use the spanish word for bush, but he named it the spanish word for shrub.

13. Yep.
At the age of 8, Bush Jr. received $500k from the Pentagon to research what they called "tart citrus liquids". He came up with a gooey sludge... 40-weight motor oil with a lemon dipped in it. The army ordered 3,000 barrels of the stuff, costing US tax payers $35 million.

It has no use, of course- but it wasn't designed to be used anyway. Just sold.

/sarcasm

16. Sporting Goods at Sears
A dark and horrible magic must reside in the Sears sporting goods department in Houston, Texas. Imagine the awe one must have felt when shopping for golf clubs, with a future leader of the free world advising you on your purchase. If only someone, perhaps a benevolent time-traveler in search of ping-pong balls, had been present then, they could have turned the younger Bush away from the dark side.

I’ve always wondered why George W. Bush insisted his stint at Sears was his favorite job; it must have been the sheer power and responsibility involved in selling lawn darts. I mean, who else can you trust with lawn darts but the President of the United States? It was an easy hop and skip from there, I suppose, to indiscriminate wars, state executions, plans for world domination, etc.

12. 'Get' is the operative word here.
He's never had to look for a job - they've all been handed to him. On a silver platter.

14. do summer jobs count?
Bush claimed, that while he was in prep school and college, he held a variety of jobs, his earliest being as "a runner at a law firm".

http://news8austin.com/content/your_news/default.asp?ArID=129276

I also recall hearing that he told a student audience he'd had a summer job at a ranch in Arizona (given that he doesn't talk about it much even when it would be an advantage, I wonder what he actually did there?). And then he worked in Alaska in 1974, for an oilfield supply company connected with the CIA. I don't think he was actually flying planes (although by then he'd had his pilot training with the TANG).

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/02/20020216-2.html

This article, which comments on the Alaska story, also mentions other jobs (including the law firm one):
http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0403/S00273.htm

"In his campaign book, Mr. Bush recounts the summers he spent delivering mail at a law firm, working for a stockbroker, roughnecking on an offshore oil rig, helping out on a ranch and selling sporting goods. But there is no mention of Alaska."

15. I don't know if they call it a job...
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 05:45 PM by BuyingThyme
BUT, they used to call him 'Junior' until they realized that he wasn't about to stop putting things in the dog's butt.

That's when they accepted him for what he was and started calling him 'W'. (They didn't want to embarrass 'Senior'.)

When he went to work for oil companies that couldn't find oil in Texas, he was still spending most of his time with the dogs.

17. Georgy has never worked at a job including the one he now holds.
I would like to see him switched (like in the movies) with a working class guy like a bathroom attendant for a year, with nothing to fall back on and see how he does. No doubt he will be fired for incompetency and end up homeless.

21. He's never worked PERIOD.
He's still on the dole, and doing absolutely nothing but playing out his little fascism fantasy on the world stage.

It's evil, but I would hardly call it work.
