Most right-wing TV ever
Inspired by the 'That's Entertainment...' story headlining DU today, the most right-wing chat show I've ever seen:

...was an episode of 'Vanessa' aired in the early 90s. This was the chat show vehicle for Vanessa Feltz, who UK readers will know as the doughy, braying, toffee-nosed Stepford imbecile who was in the papers for a while a couple of years back.

The theme of the show was 'Women Who've Had Abortions And Regretted It', and the women on stage certainly fitted that description. All of them seemed extremely depressed, and each one had their own horror story - they had all been forced to have terminations by boyfriends or family members. One had a husband who would make her shower after sex as a form of contraception, and there was other stuff that really was too unpleasant to mention here.

On the other hand, the women in the audience, or at least the ones Vanessa invited to stand up and give their opinion, were - and I have no proof of this, but I would gladly put money on it - women who had been rejected from going on stage because they had had abortions and were REALLY, REALLY ANGRY ABOUT IT. Each one would stand up, point out the fact that they themselves had had one or more abortions, and proceed to call the women on stage murderers, much to the delight of the crowd.

Throughout all this, Vanessa would be simpering and nodding with the most nauseatingly false look of sincerity, sympathy and understanding you could ever wish not to see, and otherwise not saying a word. As the embittered hags in the audience worked themselves into a frenzy, most of the women on stage were reduced to tears - TV gold. All that was left was for Vanessa to utter a quick disclaimer - "By the way, abortion isn't murder, it's legal in this country" - and that's a wrap.
