Tsunami Update from Thailand: Project Restore
I posted on here a few weeks ago and got a few responses so I wanted to update ya'll. PROJECT RESTORE is a completely grassroots project run by a returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Thailand. All of the money collected by Project Restore is going to specific schools in Thailand to help them out with the tsunami damage. No money whatsoever is being retained for administrative costs or by any governmental agency.

Here's a short update from Friends of Thailand:

There are many things to tell you about Project Restore as we near the end of the first month. Not only do people continue to send donations for the two original efforts at Ban Bang Sak and Ban Bang Muang Elementary Schools, which will be transferred to Thailand when the schools are prepared to begin their projects, but an ever-increasing number of donors are sending contributions asking us to use the money where the need is greatest. Because of this, the Advisory Board has launched Project Restore - Phase II.

Phase II is in response to the serious needs Chris White, and his
colleague, Debbie Downes (RPCV Senegal), have begun to identify in the past weeks. They have discovered that there are other school communities which have slipped through the cracks. Among them is the school in the fishing village of Ban Nam Khem, a community that was completely destroyed. Last week, the FoT Advisory Board received an official request from Chris for funds for Ban Nam Khem's school lunch program through the end of the current term, which ends in March. The request was reviewed and approved by the FoT Advisory Board and $4000 was transferred for the school on Friday, February
4th.

This effort warms my heart; it's 100% grassroots and you know exactly where the money is going. If you like, please contribute and/or keep kicked!

Cheers,
C
