About fmr. Defense Secretary William H. Cohen
Is he still a Republican? I know he was while he served in Clinton's administration. Did he ever campaign for Bush I or Bob Bole while as a senator from Maine? Did he ever campaign Bush II against Gore or Kerry? Just curious how Republicans act after we live up to our terms of bipartisanship.

1. My brother-in-law used to know him and said he was a great guy
I always used to vote for him but then I also think I would keep voting for Snowe but not Collins.

2. can you tell anything from the company one keeps?
that might be like asking if Sam Nunn (who played the US President during the June 2001 mock terrorist attack, Operation Dark Winter) is still a Democrat :)

I think they're both corporatists.

"Cohen today is the CEO and chairman of The Cohen Group, a strategic business-consulting firm based in Washington, DC. The group assist multinational clients to develop and implement strategic plans, identify and pursue business opportunities, identify and manage risks, and overcome problems in dynamic world markets. Cohen serves on the corporate boards of Viacom, NASDAQ, Cendant, Head Sports, and IDT, on the advisory boards of Barrick Gold International, BarzilInvest, and Intel Corp, as well as being the Chairman of the United States-Taiwan Business Council. In addition, Cohen serves as co-director at Empower America and is a senior counselor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies."

Greg Palast reported on Poppy Bu$h's Barrick Gold connection ...

former Canadian PM, Brian Mulroney, is a director of Barrick; and, is involved with Poppy's Carlyle Group ...

Vernon Jordan, Bill Clinton's Washington insider friend, is, also, a Barrick international advisory board member

~ oh, it's a small good ol'boy world ~

what I find disheartening today is not knowing clearyly who one really is and whom we can truly trust

3. I understand your point.
I hope in Bill's case, he's window dressing for these organizations and companies. This type of honorarium has been going on for decades.

Knowing Cohen's roots, I have to think he's closer to a Kerry Democrat than a Bush Republican. I sure would like to see him speak out about what's happening in this country. Way to many good Republicans are silent about the direction these criminals are taking this country....time for them to stop enabling and prove that they know right from wrong. Cohen did it against Nixon when he was a freshman Rep. in Congress; I don't know why he's not speaking out against someone who is a much bigger threat to this country.
