When did DU come online?

How long has this message board been around and who is responsible for creating it? Does it generate income for the operators? Who are the veteran posters? Who is this Will Pitt fellow? Is there a page that explains DU's origins? Has that Canadian who sang "Life is a Highway" ever had another hit?

2. Inauguration Day, 2001

So it's been around about 2 1/2 years. Skinner and EarlG are responsible for creating it. DU is a full-time job for Skinner, EarlG and myself. We all have jobs outside of DU, but since we spend so much time working on DU the money we make from outside jobs is significantly reduced, therefore we do depend on DU as a source of income. As for something explaining DU's origins, this is the best:

5. Skinner and EarlG held up a huge banner that got camera time on MSNBC

So yes, we did - if it weren't for MSNBC's camera stopping briefly on that banner, DU might never have made it. :)

7. One thing I'll say is...

...DU is very pleasing to the eye visually. I've checked out Free Republic and it's very hard to figure out what's going on. DU is orderly and neat. I think it's a very impressive site.

9. DU is a must-read every morning

I've lurked for well over a year, so I figured I might as well start posting. Don't have a whole lot to add, but I really appreciate what you guys do.

is his name, he played with Red Rider and their only moderate hit was "Lunatic Fringe". They still play it here in NoDak on a classic rock station.
