Easy solution to abortion issues:
comprehensive sex education at the middle and high school levels! Teach kids about condoms and birth control, instead of telling them about hellfire and damn-nation (that many don't believe in).

1. How about cryonic suspension of fetal tissue at Alcor Life Extension?
They could freeze the tissue pending the time when super-advanced technology might someday "re-animate" the dead fetuses.

Granted, this is extremely unlikely if not impossible.

But if Ted Williams gave it a nod (with his dis-embodied head) it might muddy the waters in the "right-to-life" debate.

And in the extremely unlikely chance that dead fetuses are ever un-frozen and re-animated, we could use them to create a race of super-cyborgs AND TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

3. A solution I've read that sounds good
Have all men have some sperm frozen at puberty, then give all men vasectomies. If they want children someday, they can use artificial insemination.

5. Sounds like a slippery slope leading to eugenics.
"Woooops, folks! Looks like all the Latino and Black sperm has been accidentally destroyed." But I do think vasectomies should be more common in the US. It's a shame that so many women still have tubal ligations, considering that the vasectomy is so much less invasive.

4. Worked for me! (anecdotal)
I started my comprehensive sex-ed in sixth grade. Of course, it was slowly at first, then progressively more frank. I didn't become active until well into high school, and then I knew how to play it safe. I haven't gotten any woman pregnant.

I'm all for it.

6. It's not enough
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 07:17 PM by 0rganism
People need to be secure enough financially that they can afford the children they conceive. Abortions per capita have increased since bush took office, because more women feel they are economically unable to handle parenthood. To the extent that abortions are an issue, a responsible tax code and universal health care would go a long way toward reducing such perceptions.

The Religious Zombie Brigade is hell-bent on legislating away a woman's right to choose abortion which really does nothing to address the actual problem. If making things illegal eliminated demand for those things, we wouldn't have an inner-city drug problem and you wouldn't see radar detectors in cars.
