So, while people are repeating their personal opinions on abortion
AGAIN...

Does anyone care about the Bush budget cuts?

The CDBG stuff? Do you even know what that is?

We are screwed...no one is going to be able to afford to get together and have sex anymore...and besides...every DUer that has over 500 posts have told us how they feel about legalized abortion.

1. I agree. I'd love to see the abortion flame war moved to the
abortion issue section of the site. It's just the same old rehash, over and over. There's no way I'd change my opinion on abortion. Nothing anyone can say will make a difference to me.

I do find language discussions interesting, how to reframe the debate, etc. "pro-birth" and "proponents of forced birth." Other than that... there's nothing to see here, move along!

4. Interesting discussion on Jim Lehrer tonight re budget
Commentator said budget is causing great consternation among repug senators/representatives who have to face re-election. Said if his budget is not adopted, he can claim that he is the fiscally responsible pres, but others were obstructionist. Advised Dems NOT to offer an alternative budget, as then they could be accused as not fiscally responsible, not serious about their deficit bitching. The polictical maneuvering on this will be fascinating to watch.

5. I, as a pro-life Democrat, hate this budget
This budget is anti-life--it cuts many programs which I think are central to a philosophy of life. Jim Wallis makes the point that budgets are moral documents. This budget is not the budget of a pro-life person. Bush is not pro-life. You can go ahead and persist in your stereotype that pro-life means we only care until birth, but there are those of us who want to see life protected from beginning to end, and who see Social Security and health care as part of the seamless pro-life fabric. We also hate Bush.

7. This is Stephanie-the original poster
my point about abortion is this: you are pro-life, and that is your personal opinion that should not affect other people. Kindly keep it to yourself when you are around people who either don't care, or when you vote on people who are making public policy.

As far as this thread is concerned...that was my point there too---I don't care what anyone's personal opinion is on the subject...and we need to focus on his budget--like you wrote.

Stephanie

8. If you want me to vote with you, you need to listen
I want to be in a party that cares about my opinion, and wants to hear it, whether it agrees with me or not. Why would I want to help a party that wants me to shut up? If you want my vote, if you want my support, I hope you will learn to listen.

9. wrong. Your opinion on a private medical issue
means zilch to me.

I generally don't post my personal feelings on this issue, and resent it when I have to listen to, or read, purely egotistical (this is what I believe to be true) rants on abortion.

Abortion should stay a personal issue; if you don't want one, then either be careful...or have a kid. I don't think more or less of you because of your private feelings; but keep them out of other people's lives.

6. You know i heard jim Moran talking yesterday
and he said that foodstamps, child care and job training programs were going to be cut. that to me is disgusting. I know there are many other programs that are being cut but hearing him talk about that one really pissed me off.
