I mean, I assume it's orbit will degrade over time, so that'd have to be dealt with. It's an interesting thought, though. It's certainly worthy of the history books.

As for it's function... I believe it's being replaced with more effective technology, isn't it?

Whether that will ever come to be in reality... I can't help but have my doubts.

We're living in an era when evolution -- evo-freekin'-lution! -- is being attacked in the schools all over the country. The people running the show today HATE science and everything it promises: clarity of thought, rational understanding of ourselves and the world we inhabit.

These same taliban wannabees have a say in whether we build yet another telescope that show their bible-based view of the universe to be complete and utter nonsense? Somehow, I can't imagine that project moving forward. :(
