At first I thought it might be distant lightning, but the radar is clear. The dogs woke me up growling first, and now I keep hearing it too, just when I am almost back to sleep. I know that sometimes they do fighter training over the lake, was wondering if anybody else heard anything.

So in the meantime, I'll drink me chamomile tea and have a couple of store brand Oreos, then see if I can manage to get back to sleep.

2. I'm in KC...
... and last week a B-1 bomber flew Very Low and Very Close to the office I work in. A very freaky occurrence.

BTW, this is my very first post after lurking for a very long time.
I love DU!

7. Hey evlbstrd, from down the road in Columbia
It's absolutely amazing how many training flights we have running around in Missouri. I used to live down south in the Lake Pomme de Terre area, and was constantly watching the Air Force out of Ft. Scott doing practice runs over the whole lake. The would even do bombing runs on the bridges, dropping bags of flour.

Up here in mid Mo we're constantly being subjected to fly bys of stealth fighters, bombers and other assorted military aircraft. I even got buzzed by a B-52 that was lost. It came in low and slow, at about 100 feet, close enough to wave at the co-pilot, who waved back. It circled over the city and headed back south. According to an article in the paper the next day, it was a training flight out of Louisiana that had gotten lost.

Good to see another Missourian on the boards.
