GANNONGATE! Talon "News" "reporter" Jeff Gannon ties to gay hookers!
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 09:11 AM by johnfunk
Jim Guckert, who writes under the pseudonym Jeff Gannon, announced late last night that he's quitting the journo biz.

He's the guy that Little Scottie McLellan could always count on to ask a softball, Dem-bashing question at White House press briefings.

Here's how the scandal came down:

Media Matters started asking questions about why a political hack with no journo experience - who would repeat White House press releases verbatim as news - got White House press credentials (more here).

About a week ago, the bio for "Gannon" was disappeared from the Talon News web site.

"Gannon" responded with an obnoxious, arrogant taunt of "libruls"; but a day later, bloggers determined that "Gannon" is one Jim T. Guckert - and tied Gannon/Guckert to one "Bedrock Corporation."

A little more digging uncovered some amazing domain names tied to Gannon/Guckert/Bedrock - and an embarrassing AOL home page of the pseudostudly Guckert. Note that some of the domain names contain the phrases "escorts" and "m4m".

Well, well, well - a reporter for a "news" service that regularly bashes "homosexuals" and their so-called "agenda" is tied to gay hookers.

3. Provided that his family will stick with him n/t
While I can see a wife being supportive of a guy she married who was so far in the closet - stretching that to her supporting him being involved with gay prostitution would require her to be an incredible woman. Not that I'd blame her for dumping his ass.

9. So.....will Howie (Two Hat) Kurtz report on this? Will any MSM put this
out and tie it to Bush and WHY did this guy get access to Scotty? Why did the White House Reporters not expose this guy on their own?

This should be a MAJOR scandal. On the front page of all the blogs with the photo of Gannon in his undies posing.

If the "Intenets" can't get this story blasted out there, then there's no hope for any change...

14. Stick On His Lack Of Credentials
I hate when some sideshow gets in the way of what could be an important story.

So what if Gluckert or Gannon or whatever is gay or martian or whatever. It's his actions as a plant in the media and how compromised the national media is not to out him on that merit that deserves full and continuing scrutiny...not his private life.

A typical wingnut defense tactic...when your guy is being attacked, find a diversion. When it's Bunnypant's military record, let's divert by going after Dan Rather.

Instead of taking the bait and going after the guy's personal life, this should be focusing on how Gannon got his credentials, who else in the "media pool" of "respectable journalists" knew he was a fraud and went along with this scam and to uncover the money that funds him and other "journalists" who had created the state/corporate media.

18. And it was Rush who planted the false info
According to one of the links you provided http://mediamatters.org/items/200501270005

Limbaugh bragged that his show inspired Talon News "reporter's" erroneous question to Bush

Nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh proclaimed that he fabricated a point surfacing in a question that Talon News White House correspondent Jeff Gannon subsequently asked of President Bush at a January 26 White House press conference. Gannon asked Bush: "ow are you going to work with people who seem to have divorced themselves from reality?" prefacing the question with the assertion that Senate Minority Leader "Harry Reid was talking about soup lines." But Reid made no reference to soup lines. As Limbaugh noted, "Uh, Harry Reid never said 'soup lines.' That's my term for the simple way to characterize the Democrats' view of America." Limbaugh said he was "flattered and honored and proud to have a point made by this program represented in the press conference and asked by a reporter."

Check out http://jeffgannon.com/

" A Voice of the New Media
The voice goes silent."

In really sexy, sexy script! Talk about a high drama queen!

And John A at AmericaBlog beat me to the punch when he pointed out this lovely sentence from Gannon's home (o' erotic) page:
"In consideration of the welfare of me and my family I have decided to return to private life."
That's "myself," not "me," Guckert... er, Gannon! A real journalist would know how to correctly construct an English sentence without a 5th grade grammar gaffe, Guck... er, Jeffy.

Cool campaign button! I was listening to Paul Harvey this morning and thinking the same thing! Harvey was talking about Dr. Rice speaking fluent French (did not mention her fluent Russian) and waxing eloquently about her skills as a concert pianist and her elegant, stylish clothes. Praising her diplomatic skills as Secretary of State, he ended his report saying, "Just the right person at the right time."

Yeah, you know, having elegant, stylish clothes, skills as a pianist, and speaking fluent French were prerequisites for Thomas Jefferson, Cordell Hull, Dean Acheson, John Foster Dulles, Dean Rusk, Henry Kissinger, et. al., becoming Secretaries of State, too - NOT!

As far as diplomatic skills - well, isn't that just a little premature, considering she's only occupied that job for about, oh, A WEEK?

Here's a little story with a moral for you, Paul Harvey and FR Poster:

A colleague of mine was the Regional Security Officer at the embassy in Beirut back in the early 1980s. Shortly after the Marine barracks was blown up (during the Reagan Administration - you remember him, right?) we received information that the insurgents were planning a second bombing on the embassy, and to relocate the embassy staff IMMEDIATELY. We sent three (count 'em: THREE) alerts to the Ambassador (whom you may also remember: He was the fat, blond-haired man sitting behind Colin Powell at the U.N. the day The Secretary gave the Iraq WMD presentation), ignored every one of them (in his return message, he categorically stated he "wasn't taking orders from subordinates"). Sure enough, the embassy was bombed. The killer drove a sedan loaded with explosives through the concrete barriers and over the "dragon's teeth", right straight up to the front door.

When the bomb detonated, it blew the glass-paned walls and ceiling in the lobby (which was designed like an atrium) downward and inward. My colleague just happened to be walking through the lobby when the bomb exploded. Shards of glass rained down on him. He was medivaced to the Army hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, and then flown back to D.C. for surgery (or SURGERIES: He had FIFTY of them altogether, including several to reconstruct his face, and TEN to reattach his left ear, which was severed.) He even had glass in both eyes, which almost blinded him (and required surgeries to correct his sight).

Too bad you didn't see my colleague by the time he came back to work, because he looked like Frankenstein's brother. His face, arms, legs -you name it - were stitched up. Ten weeks after his last surgery, he was back at work in my office. He'd come by my desk to touch base and, after he'd leave I'd notice these little slivers of glass that were around my desk area and on the floor. I mentioned to Al one day that I thought I'd broken something. His response, in characteristic good humor, was: "No, it's me. I've got glass embedded in my skin. You should see my shower in the morning."

Before Paul Harvey and some clueless, ignorant FR poster start gushing over their token's "elegant, stylish wardrobe", "fluent French and Russian" and "concert piano skills", just remember something: It's the rank and file in the Foreign Service who are doing the grunt work and putting their lives on the line for this country (like my colleague Al, whose family wasn't the least bit concerned with his "stylish" clothing when he returned. They were just happy he was ALIVE).

When Condolezza Rice is hunkered down with embassy personnel that's surrounded by semi-automatic gunfire, Abrams tanks and exploding ordnance (the way Joe Wilson was at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad during the Gulf War), and wondering whether the next incoming Patriot or Scud missile is going to blow your ass to kingdom come, THEN she'll have my respect. Jet-setting through Europe and the Middle East pushing an ideology ain't gonna do it.

In the meantime, don't post clueless messages tinged with pre-pubescent adoration on subject matter neither you nor Paul Harvey know ANYTHING about.
