QUESTION: Is It Fashionable for a U.S. President to be Openly Fascist?
The occupant of the White House is openly comparing his agenda -- Social Security, in particular -- to that of Chile's Augusto Pinochet.

We're told that our tax dollars, as with the Chilean model, should be handed over not to the U.S. government, but directly to American corporations. As far as I know, such a system represents the purest form of fascism ever known to mankind.

But how is this possible? How is it that the media, let alone our Democratic leaders, can sit silent while GWB proudly compares himself to Chile's murderous dictator?

And how long before it becomes fashionable for Republican leaders to openly compare themselves to Adolf Hitler? What's the difference? Is it far off?

Just wondering.

1. Depends
It's best if the wearer is a Republican,
fascist looks out of place on anyone else.

2. In his case, yes.
Fascism is a sign of "strong leadership" isn't it? Hell, being a fascist got elected with a "mandate" :puke:

3. Somebody's going to stop them?
No reason to hide it when nobody can (or will) do a damn thing about it.

5. As Frank Zappa said
"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre."

6. I thought that was very odd as well.

All the right-wing news outlets are full of praise for Chile's system. I really don't see how that's any different than saying you want to emulate Mussolini's train system, or Franco's prison system.

It's a very strange angle, but it shows how far they have to stretch to sell this fraud of a policy. I just wish the Democrats would stand up and simply point out that Bush is saying we need to emulate a fascist dictatorship.

parallels that the media were able to find.

(Is Pinochet's Chile the closest thing they could find to Bush's vision for America?)
