I got this email last month. While the summit has past, there are many other opportunities that need funding. I changed the PFAW link so you can see the photos and information about the summit and there is a link at the site for contributions. There is an opportunity for you to donate, or become one of the "brightest young people in the country." Check it out.

Sponsor a Young Progressive Leader!
Your Gift Will Be Matched Dollar for Dollar through the Online Challenge
Dear,
Invest in the
Progressive Future
of America
Sponsor a Young People For Fellow and double the impact of your gift through the Online Challenge!
When Norman Lear and the other founders of People For the American Way Foundation created this organization almost 25 years ago to stand up against the Religious Right, we never thought its narrow message of intolerance, inequality, and moral superiority would find a place among younger Americans.
Well, we were wrong.
Today, the Radical Right pours some $37 million annually into a comprehensive and coordinated leadership development strategy that develops political skills and long-term political commitment among young neo-conservatives. We ignore this success at our peril. We need only look at the success of the Radical Right’s strategic leaders such as Karl Rove or Ralph Reed to know that they’ve been doing something right in leadership generation. Both Rove and Reed were leaders of the College Republicans before launching major league careers, and they have created the network that brought the Right to power in recent years.
We can lament their successes, or we can do better. I’ve decided we can do better.
That’s why we’ve created Young People For, a major new program designed to identify and engage young progressive activists and leaders and equip them to move into positions of leadership around the nation. We’re launching Young People For at a four-day training summit here in Washington in January, and I need your help to make this summit as successful as possible for the next generation of progressive leaders.
http://www.youngpeoplefor.org/site/pp.asp?c=fvKVLeMVItG&b=278087&sid=61307477I know I can’t match the Radical Right’s $37 million, but we can go toe-to-toe with them by supporting the brightest young people in the country who will be coming to the summit.
The best news is that we’re starting off with a $150,000 challenge grant from one our major donors. This grant is specific to Young People For, and will match dollar for dollar any gift you make over the internet. This means that your gift in support of Young People For is actually doubled – your $100 becomes $200; $250 becomes $500, $500 becomes $1,000 and so on.
The Young People For Fellowship Program is a year-long program for 120 freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from colleges and universities around the country that will begin with the summit in Washington from January 14-17.
The fellowship program will help today’s rising progressive leaders accomplish their goals and make a difference on their campuses, in the community, and across the nation. Through the program, we will reach 6,000 young progressive leaders on 40 college campuses in seven states and the District of Columbia and bring them into the Young People For network.
We’d like to keep the cost for each Young People For fellow to a minimum by providing full “leadership scholarships” to attend the summit, where they will learn how to push progressive issues in their community and in the media, broaden their progressive networks and cultivate their skills through training on messaging, media and communication, advocacy, research, and political organizing.
The cost for each leadership fellow to attend the summit is $1,500, or $100 for each of the 15 sessions each fellow will attend. You can help through a gift of $50, $100, $250, or even $750. Remember, your gift is doubled, so a $50 gift will underwrite a $100 session; a $750 gift will underwrite the entire $1,500 cost.
The inaugural class of Young People For Fellows is excited and full of dreams about how they can shape a progressive future – they believe they can change the world. We believe they're up for the challenge, but we need your help to make their dreams a reality. Please be as generous as you can.
Sincerely,
Ralph G. Neas
President
