Conservative is closer to Fascist than Liberal is to Communist.

Next time some freeper calls you a "liberal commie", tell them that 1) Liberalism and Communism are two completely different political ideologies and 2) Conservatism is closer to Fascism than Liberalism is to Communism.

"Liberal Commie" is an oxymoron. It's like saying that shade of blue is reddish.

Here's the political ideology spectrum I learned about in PolySci class from left to right:

Anarchist---Communist---Socialist---Liberal---Conservative---Fascist

There's a WHOLE Socialist wedged in between us and the commies!!!

So in response to anyone on the board who says "we shoudln't be calling them fascists", I wholeheartedly disagree. They are nudged up RIGHT AGAINST Fascism.

2. To support your point:
Liberalism is actually the opposite of authoritarianism, whether it be Left or Right.

By example, in the Putin half of the BushPutinist State, Russia, the Liberals were on the Right (Google "The Union of Right Forces" and you will find it to be true).

Spot on post!

5. that scale is messed up... linear isn't a good model to use
How can anarchist be more to the left of COmmunist? Communist you have total state control of industries, but then you go further to the "left" and you get anarchist, which is no state at all?

That scale makes no sense. It should be at least two dimensional having one axis be an economic scale, and one axis being a personal freedoms scale.

7. You're right; that ISNT a good model to use.
Try this: http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalcompass/

They strongly urge that you take the test BEFORE reading too deeply into the explanatory stuff. Most of the past responders here at DU have reported themselves to be in the Third Sector ... "Left-Libertarian" ... along with Einstein, Bishop Tutu, Noam Chomsky and others. Take the test and perhaps surprise yourself (and amaze your friends?).

6. I agree they are fascists, but there is something missing from your graph.

It's more like this, as I remember from my American Government textbook.

Communist--Socialist--Liberal----Centrist-----Conservative--Reactionary--Fascist

This is how it was in my textbook, I'm not sure if anarchism would apply to this graph but it means "no government", doesn't it? So I don't know if Anarchism would be on this graph.

8. What this equation does not consider is anything left of far-hard right
is immediately labeled and branded as commie pinko by those of the extreme-far-hard right all the while the labelers revel in their own extreme corporatism if not fascism. Like any propagand machine, they can never stop their shrill lying, misleading, misinforming, disinforming for even a moment.

9. However, fascism is far worse than communism.
The two cannot be compared. Only the truly evil would choose fascism over communism.
