While I'm sure the situation is now that the Shrubbie McCriminal FuckWad administration has made it very plain and clear that the press is no longer free, and that anyone who tries to act like it is will be audited, "suicided", "wellstoned", or otherwise have their lives made a living hell, assuming they even get to remain alive, or that they're license to broadcast will be revooked, or they'll be fine heavily.

I think the same thing happened with Reagan and Bush I. Very little commentary critical of the lives of those presidents. And then Clinton comes in and WHAM!! it's a free for all.

I think it's because the press knows that democrats won't use the government to shut them down if they say something critical.
