Okay--who is Jeff Gannon and what is the deal with him?

My computer crashed a few days ago and just got it out of the shop today and logged back on this evening. So what is this Jeff Gannon firestorm and how does it tie into Karl Rove? How did this thing break and what is it all about? I'm trying to play catch up here...
