Let's return to the moral high ground

The Daily Mail editorial page has shown a lack of even a rudimentary understanding of the U.S. Constitution and a shallow compassion for the men and women of our military forces.

I am stunned by the Daily Mail's suggestion in its Feb. 4 editorial, "Sen. Byrd disappoints: Again, attacking the character of qualified nominees is excess," that "it's time to move on" from the war in Iraq.

The families of our brave armed forces would love nothing more than for our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines to "move on" from the terrorist killing fields of Iraq and come home.

But they can't. Those men and women are carrying out the duty that they have sworn to uphold.
