Well what the *!!!!!!! I am so pissed!!!!!!!!!!
Bush is visiting Germany February 23rd - I'd already decided to welcome him in Mainz. Now I'm just reading the following:

Feb. 23rd two Highways (Autobahnen) will be closed and a number of other roads and streets and bridges; there will be numerous traffic controls; several schools, Kindergarten, youth Centers and town halls will stay closed all day; streetcars won't go on all routes; in Wiesbaden (where Bush visits US-soldiers after his Main-visit) they won't even have the garbage deposited that day!

What the fuck! For that piece of shit Germans will have to swallow all these inconveniences! Can't you fucking KEEP him over there?!

End of rant but not of fury

Actually, I shouldn't make light. You gave us Hitler. We give you Bushler, who in the end may wind up worse though we cannot tell until the Amerikan Reich has had 12 years of unchecked power.

And neither of these Totalitarian Tyrants are nything to laugh about.

30. to him, your beautiful country is like Disney World ...
If he even notices the historic buildings and inspiring landscapes, he will think of them as a backdrop for himself. (The Rhine Valley, Black Forest, etc. will be wasted on him.) In fact, I guess that he will bring his own stage set and lighting technicians, as he did on his visit to us in Canada. If he can get away with it, he would also bring American actors with him, in colourful costumes, because his only reason for travel these days is to have photo-ops. And he wants to make sure that the people in the pictures look awestruck and grateful to be in his presence.

"When the strongest nation in the world can be tied up for ... years in a war ... with no end in sight, when the richest nation in the world can't manage its own economy, when the nation with the greatest tradition of the rule of law is plagued by unprecedented lawlessness, ... and when the President of the United States cannot travel abroad or to any major city at home without fear of a hostile demonstration - then it's time for new leadership for the United States of America."

36. They tore down Spandau Prison
After Rudolf Hess died, the German government had the prison torn down. The British Army built its post exchange on the grounds.

After the Four Powers pulled out of Berlin, I don't know what happened to the store--it was probably purchased by one of the big retail chains.

However, there are other prisons in Berlin...Plotzensee would be a good one.

38. Mostly true (you surprised me, I didn't know it was torn down). So I
googled - the prison was torn down on order of the British town commander.

And yes, there are other prisons in Berlin - but nobody will touch * Our industry - and every country's industry - has too much money tied up in the States... Our upper class is not nearly as wealthy but just as greedy as yours. So what the Bushistas want the Bushistas get.

52. What that website didn't tell you
The British Commander Berlin would have had to order the prison torn down because Spandau was in the British Sector and it held a military prisoner--Hess--so it was military property. The Lord Mayor of Berlin didn't have the authority to tear it down.

However, the Germans wanted it gone more than the Tripartite Commission did because they knew that if it remained it would become a nexus of neo-Nazi activity. So the BCOB gave the order, a German firm tore it down and law-abiding Berliners cheered. (BTW, in Berlin a jelly donut is a Pfannkuchen--a "pancake.")

Actually, they wanted to move, or release, Rudolf Hess before he died so they could tear the prison down earlier, but the Tripartite Commission wouldn't allow it. I have no idea why; it's not like he was going to restart the Third Reich or anything.
