1. I hope they don't
The real issue is how a guy with no credentials and political motivations obtained secret documents.

3. Agree to a certain extent, but...
...part of the issue is that Gannon pimped the so-called family values agenda and wrote anti-gay hit pieces while owning sites catering to the very sort of "immorality" that crowd decries.

19. One Step At A Time...
We need to shine a very bright light on the media manipulation of this regime...and here's a great example just waiting to be exposed.

This is more smoke from a raging major media fire...where "journalism" has been compromised by an orchestrated right wing disinformation industry/network that has gotten both very massive and sloppy. This guy's private life means little in this very, very important issue.

Let's stay focused on this regime and follow "Gannon's" money, not his private life. Discredit him and the rest of the right wing hate media and it makes showing their hypocrisy on sexual and gay issues so much more obvious.

21. because it's HISTORICAL
Just like the August 6, 2001 PDB "Bin Laden determined to strike within the United States" -- that was HISTORY

Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!

ALL in the past.... ANCIENT History... LONG Ago... NOTHING we can do about it now...

Nothing to see here... move along, move along.

24. Yes, repukes don't have "history" they only have "youthful indescretions"
which is anything up to and including 6 months beyond whatever age you found out they did some really bad shit. Democrats have "history" out the wazoo, and the repukes will wpend $70 million dollars to trash that "history" given the right democrat.

7. denial is so funny:
"Glenn Reynolds, a University of Tennessee law professor who writes on InstaPundit.com, said the tactics used against Gannon "seem to me to be despicable.' "

***(try not pimping out military men as street whores; oh the shame, poor Gannon is actually a victim!!

Tim Graham, who served as White House correspondent for a national weekly Christian news magazine, had this to say on National Review's The Corner blog: "s a one-time White House correspondent that asked clearly conservative (but tough) questions in the briefing room, I can only say I'm glad I got out before the left-wing bloggers exposed my unnatural attraction to sugared kiddie cereals. Can we start at square one and agree that these very personal attacks on Jeff Gannon are creepy coming from the libertine left?"

***(since when is male prostitution in the same category as sugared kiddie cereals????)

"The issue I think is, should some of his liberal critics, these liberal bloggers, have started investigating his personal life in an effort to discredit him?

"It's fine to disagree with his politics, but did they go too far, I think a lot of people are asking, in dragging in some of this personal stuff?

10. And just to clear up any potential misunderstanding
The "Gannon/Guckert/Goodbar as gay" angle should be included in this discussion. This is not because we in the progressive camp have any trouble with gay men.

This is because for the last 10 weeks since the renewal of Stupidhead's man date, we have been subjected to endless chatter about how it was "moral values" (codespeak for gay rights and gay marriage) that decided the 2004 election. Exhibit A in the popular media for this dubious proposition is always the passage of the gay discrimination laws in 10 states in 2004. The implication is pretty clear, and when it's not clear it's right out in the open: You can't support gay rights and be "moral."

Yet, when the political agenda of the corrupt Bush administration needs to be advanced, the Bushistas don't care if you're gay, straight, a compulsive gambler, a phone sex pervert, a drug abuser, an anonymous character assassin, or seemingly any other "immoral" person. But the mainstream media know better than to call attention to that fact, and they prefer to stare off into the air when it's brought to their attention.

So we have to do it.

16. My own little private joke
Since there's some confusion over our hero's true name, Gannon or Guckert, I decided to throw another name into the mix, Goodbar. See, there was this 1970s era movie called "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" and . . . I think I'm killing the joke here.

It's hilarious, trust me.

15. Off Topic, but
in the CBS article you cited, McCllenan is quoted:
"White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Guckert did not have a regular White House press pass but was cleared on a day-by-day basis to attend briefings and used his real name."

If this is true, why did little Scottie use the alias "Jeff" every time he called on James D. Guckert?

Has Scottie Mc made a big boo-boo?
