2. Would that be lovely!
It would explain why R made sure the boy blunder was given the post he abuses to this day. Poppy had proof that R was throat and held it over his head, wouldn't R hate to be impeached?

3. I'm open to that...
I think this particular story had a thread going today or yesterday, I'm so ganananananananaoned that I don't remember for sure.

One of the interesting things I ponder is the role of all those Goldwater republicans who had positions in Government. They would have really been unhappy with many of Nixon's policies and manipulations of the economy...

LaRue the guy who controlled the money going to the plumbers was one of these Goldwater types. Rehnquist is an extremist and was a Goldwater supporter. Both were lawyers working in and around the White House.

I can't put probabilities on it, but I suspect these two had opportunities to cross paths. Anyone who worked around LaRue would be a possible person to say the now infamous line "Follow the money."

4. REHNQUIST: No, No, No, and NO
Deep Throat had a certain decency that political hack, Civil Rights-offending REHNQUIST does not have. He harrassed minorites at the polls when he was a younger operative and to the end dragged himself from the sickbed to glory in swearing-in Shrub.

Fer-gudness-sake some of the crowd that took this poll named NIXON himself as DT and Linda LOVELACE, besides Pat NIXON and the Pope! Plus, Diane SAWYER?!--who was some kind of intern, and would not know stuff.

Will fetch another link, where Don SEGRETTI says he knows who DT is, and that DT is NOT ill and is NOT Poppy, HAIG, or Gerald FORD. In that link the university study group of a few years back is cited as naming Fred FIELDING.

5. A couple of points
(I agree it's not Rehnquist.)

1. A lot of people make the assumption that DT was essentially a good guy. I don't think that's the case. I think DT had an agenda, and it did not coincide with that of the people he was working with and for. He did the right thing, but there has never been any conclusive proof that he didn't have his own agenda.

2. I read that university study and found it extremely convincing. I agree with their conclusion that it was Fielding.

3. Segretti knows fuck-all about anything. He was a relatively low-level low-life.

6. Agreed on All Points
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 07:42 PM by UTUSN
Considering that everybody around, supporting NIXON has taint on their souls at different levels, DT is likely to be some kind of wingnut. But there are SOME who are beyond the pale, who would be COMPLETELY INCAPABLE of a conscientious act, of whom REHNQUIST is near the top of my list.

7. As bad as Segretti might have been, his dirty tricks were merely child's
play, only frat-type pranks in comparison to the litany of high crimes that have later gone down.
