News Outside Of Gannonfest: National Archives Releases Rest Of 9/11 Report
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 10:56 PM by DistressedAmerican
On a normal day this would be the big feeding frenzy item.

Just a reminder not to loose site of the rest of the crap these folks are passing off under the radar while we are focused on Gannon.

Tim Roehmer quoted on NPR says it is heavily redacted to cover Bush's ass! Unleash the hounds!

on edit: They took 5 full months to scrub it clean and in the process bury it until after the election.

22. I intend to! Yes- I'm angry...more than angry-
but part of me is profoundly saddened by this news. We were betrayed and harmed by our own people! Sheep in wolves clothing...but much worse! So, within my rage, I feel great loss!

One minute I'm soooo pissed off and I wrote to my reps. I have all republicans (including Frist) so I don't know if they'll read. MAYBE my congressman. It also went to Bush but I didn't mean for that so oops. But it's tough going up and down and not knowing what to feel. I wonder how the families are feeling.

15. The 911 Commission Report is Billed as the "Final" Report ....
of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon The United States. Looks like it was not so final after all. What else is going to come out after this revelation. I would like to go back to the time the report was released and see the quotes of the MSM pundits as to how good and complete it was. Let's see who was making those statements.

read the unredacted version into the record.

As I understand it they can do that even with calssified material and by doing so, unilaterally declassify.

There were such threats made about the "Bin LAden Determined To Attack Inside The United States" memo during the Benveniste grillings.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I'm 95% sure on this one.

Rice testifies before 9/11 commission: more cover-up and lies

By Barry Grey
9 April 2004
Use this version to print | Send this link by email | Email the author

Thursday’s hearing of the national commission to investigate 9/11, which took testimony from Bush’s national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, was a bipartisan exercise in cover-up and duplicity. It was all the more grotesque, occurring as it did against the backdrop of US war crimes in Fallujah and other Iraqi cities that have already taken thousands of civilian lives, and led to more deaths and injuries of American soldiers who have been fed a non-stop diet of lies by those in Washington who authored the colonial enterprise.

That Rice could claim, “Today, along with many allies, we are helping the people of Iraq and Afghanistan to build free societies...to spread the blessings of liberty and democracy as alternatives to instability and terror,” without being challenged by a single member of the commission—Democratic or Republican—points to the real purpose of the commission. Its primary political task is to conceal from the American people the connection between the tragedy of September 11, 2001 and US imperialist policy in general, and the conspiracy hatched by the Bush administration to invade and occupy Iraq and seize its oil resources, in particular.

With the US government engaged in murderous actions that are inflaming public opinion throughout the Muslim and Arab world, Rice’s contention that the “war on terror” is staunching the growth of Islamist terrorism and enhancing the safety and security of ordinary Americans would be laughable, were not its implications so catastrophic.

The real question before the commission is not some “intelligence failure” prior to 9/11, but to what extent the Bush administration and top-level figures in the intelligence and military establishment pursued a deliberate policy of allowing a hijacking to occur, in order to create the pretext for implementing a pre-existing agenda of using military force to establish US imperialist hegemony in the oil-rich Persian Gulf and Caspian regions.

More truth...

19. I hope that most people here have enough brain power...
... to contain the implications of the Gannon/Guckert/Talon issue, Blivet**'s budget and this report. At least I hope so.

The Gannon/Guckert/Talon/Sexy story provides a nice attack opportunity on the continuing WH propaganda issue. It's a good opportunity to keep the Admin** propaganda issue alive. The "probably gay, militarily-fetishistic, male-prostitution" angle is dull to me, but it may be a way to get the attention of the steno-pool that calls itself "The Press" as they love the man-sex stories. I also hope that any gay, military-fetishistic, and/or male-prostitute progressives reading this understand and support the use of this issue as not being anti-them, but being anti-those-hypocritical-self-denying-fucktards.

The budget and Social Security issues should have a deep impression on Blivet's** traditional Republican supporters. Those issues are gathering steam and are not going away in the short term. M4M-boy shouldn't be a distraction.

Reports of Admin** foreknowledge about the September 11, 2001 attacks also deserve massive head-space in all Americans, besides the truly deluded. Again, Talon-boy shouldn't occupy the same part of the brain.

In summary: there's no need to diminish one issue just to reinforce another. Bring the Admin** fuckers down with everything you have. If I considered Gannon/Guckert/Sexy to be a distraction, then I would agree with your position. However, I think that all of these issues have legs... although those legs are toned, hairy, bare, topped with white cotton underwear and controlled by a very small brain.

20. Randi spent a good part of her show on it today.
She almost got to MIHOP but stopped short of it. Things are looking bad for Shrub again. Remember the look on his face that Michael Moore showed at the beginning of Farenheit 9-ll? She pretty much said that he knew what was happening and that he knew before it happened. She also talked about the Pearl Harbor incident in the PNAC papers, making the same connection many DUers have been making all along.

Maybe the truth will come out after all.

9/11 commission: FAA had al Qaeda warnings
Report's post-election release date questioned

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Federal Aviation Administration received repeated warnings in the months prior to September 11, 2001, about al Qaeda and its desire to attack airlines, according to a previously undisclosed report by the commission that investigated the terror attacks.

The report by the 9/11 commission detailed 52 such warnings given to FAA leaders from April to September 10, 2001, about the radical Islamic terrorist group and its leader, Osama bin Laden.

Specific findings
According to the report:

Aviation officials were "lulled into a false sense of security" and "intelligence that indicated a real and growing threat leading up to 9/11 did not stimulate significant increases in security procedures."

Of the FAA's 105 daily intelligence summaries between April 1, 2001 and September 10, 2001, 52 mentioned bin Laden, al Qaeda, or both, "mostly in regard to overseas threats."

The FAA did not expand the use of in-flight air marshals or tighten airport screening for weapons. It said FAA officials were more concerned with reducing airline congestion, lessening delays and easing air carriers' financial problems than thwarting a terrorist attack.

A proposed rule to improve passenger screening and other security measures ordered by Congress in 1996 had been held up by the Office of Management and Budget and was still not in effect when the attacks occurred, according to the FAA.
