Are we the meanest-spirited people on planet Earth?

While I have my doubts, reading todays articles about indifference toward the poor and down-trodden makes me wonder if we are heading in a direction of hate and loathing on a massive scale.

1. The only thing we can do is try to live our lives in opposition...

to hate and loathing by being tolerant and compassionate. Hate and loathing don't entire my home or my vocabulary. If you mean hate and loathing from other nations - I think we all have blood on our hands - and we are screwed.

2. We have been led to believe that we are so special. That no

one else counts, it is a false religion but it works for the selfish.
