.
Nixon and his cronies had a little mixed bag of dirty-tricksters, planted stories, and double-crossers and some of that eventually came to light. Back when real journalists would follow a lead on a story, anyway.

At the time, these types like 'Jeff Gannon' were part of group of people called Nixon's "rat fuckers."

I hope a whole nest of these modern-day rat fuckers is exposed--and that Rove and his ilk were so sure that no one would dare call them on their tactics that they didn't bother to cover their tracks properly.

A dirty trail of rat shit that leads right to the White House.

--------------
For more on Rove's direct connection to Nixon's ratfuckers:

"At 21, Rove dropped out of college and into politics, and became an early protégé of convicted Watergate player Don Segretti – the political operative who invented the term “ratfucking” in the first place.”

I still like my term 'weasel fuckers,' but it applies to the whole Bush administration, not just the propagandists.

8. Well, I see a lot with NC in their usernames, but people can be
rather anonymous here, for good reason, often.

My brother lives near Hoffman/Marston - out in the middle of nowhere really. I teach around here. Have been to Rockingham lots over the years; nice old houses there.

11. Hoffman
is practically right up the street from me. Cool. Yeah, the houses close to where I live are an example of some nice architecture although lots of people call them "mill houses". I like some of them and some of those in downtown Rockingham. They are pretty.

I'm a night owl by nature. Always have been. The wind has been ferocious today and tonight. Loud and cold.

I mean the wind is cold. It's almost like it wouldn't be too bad without it.

It's not long before I'm back onto a late-night schedule.

23. I'm exactly
the same way with my sleep schedule. I really don't like mornings most of the time. On a rare occasion my schedule will end up moving slowly until I am on a day shift, then work its way back to night time. Have you heard of any local get togethers for DU'ers in this part of the state?

I didn't ever post because I didn't want to accept cookies, but then saw that there were a lot of really cool opinions on here and decided to start posting. I've meet people from all over, not in person, online here, but not many from NC.

7. I didn't tie Gannon to Nixon.
Only the term that was used back then. There were people like Gannon back then during the Nixon Administration--people who were planted to spread lies and stories.

Gannon is a modern-day rat fucker. Bush-style. But right out of the handbook of Tricky Dick.

13. Rove himself was king rat fucker in college.
Rove was a young republican when Nixon was president, involved in college politics and played dirty. I figure he worshipped Nixon.

And it seems like, through the years, Rove has really perfected Nixon's dirty tricks.

If you've ever watched All the President's Men, they use that term 'rat fuckers' to describe Nixon's dirty-tricksters.

This is right out of Nixon's handbook and played by Rove.

18. Found it! Rove's connections to Nixon's ratfuckers!
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 02:25 AM by Lex
.
"At 21, Rove dropped out of college and into politics, and became an early protégé of convicted Watergate player Don Segretti – the political operative who invented the term “ratfucking” in the first place. In that same tradition, Rove has been linked to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, attacks on John McCain’s mental health, and, back in Texas, the whispering that Democratic Governor Ann Richards was a lesbian. Rove remains, for many, a prime suspect in the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame, and even Republicans tend to reinforce his image as Bush’s Dark Lord. “He dominates a campaign,” Republican strategist David Weeks told The Washington Post. “Nothing ever happens that he’s not aware of.”"

I edited my first post to reflect the connection between Rove and Nixon's ratfuckers.

and that is the big question, of course. I remember Don Segretti's name from even when I was a little kid.

if there is a Rove connection to Gannon then it's like Nixon dirty-tricksters, version 2005.
