Phoenix drivers fingerprinted

PHOENIX (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in the Phoenix area on Thursday began asking drivers getting ticketed for certain traffic violations to provide their fingerprints, drawing criticism from civil rights activists.
The fingerprinting is part of a pilot program that Sheriff Joe Arpaio says will help fight identity theft in Phoenix. The city has the highest per-capita rate of identity theft complaints in the country, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
The fingerprinting would help identify people with stolen or falsified driver's licenses, the sheriff said. It also ensures that innocent people whose identities are stolen do not get charged with crimes they did not commit.
Arpaio said the new procedure is designed to ensure the person who committed the offense is the same person being charged with a crime in the courtroom.

problem with this" type of things. I hate it when they do this and try that shit. Innocent people shouldn't want their government keeping tabs on them.

7. In OK now, you get fingerprinted when you get or renew a driver's license

They use a digital fingerprinting technology. The drivers license photos are entered into that digital facial recognition program (VIISAGE or some such name).

But they're doing all this for our own good -- they want to protect us from identity theft. (yeah, right)

8. my brother fighting a dui in new jersey from the 80's

he has never been in the state. the description is some 6" shorter than him.......finally got on the nation computer adn has stopped him for a year renewing driverliscence. hired attorney by phone to take care of it, has paid 3k so far. he is going to have to get on a plane and go there adn possibly on spot arrest

i dont like this answer and would resent getting asked for a fingerprint. but i dont like his situation either

10. Whenever I drive down one of the busy streets near me

in Phoenix, there is a van patrolling the streets taking pictures of those who are speeding. Who is protecting us from home invaders, robbers, sex crimes, abuse etc. The list could go on and on. They sit on the streets waiting for someone to make a mistake, yet do nothing about the child abuse that occurs daily.
Screw them.
