Things like this will probably be gone forever.. I doubt that Thune will have enough clout to push through the "goodies" that SD has become accustomed to.
These subsidies may be their last.. Hope they choke on that wad of cash..
Watch these subsidies fade away ..Stuff like this requires the vigilance of someone with some power... That "extra money" will probably be kept by the government agencies from now on.. Thune owes too many favors to kick up much of a fuss..

Stanley and Hughes counties are enjoying a windfall from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Each county has received its annual share of payments collected by the two federal agencies for leases on federal lands along the Missouri River that were acquired for flood control, navigation and other purposes.
Stanley County received $17,844.03, the largest payment for any of the 14 counties involved.
Hughes County received $3,839.63.
“Federal guildelines urge counties to use this money for drainage projects or for the benefit of the public schools,” said State Treasurer Vern Larson. “However, the funds come with no mandates or restrictions and can be used for any legal expense incurred by county government and approved by the county commission.”
The Big Bend, Fort Randall and Lake Oahe areas generated the $85,481.46, which is split among the counties.
