5. We have to take over the media first...

It's amazing what people won't believe unless they see it on TV. I showed a bunch of peole the "Propagannon" story, and they were jsut like "that's another one of your stories" until they saw the Keith Olbermann video clip. Then they were like "Wow, this is real!"

What the fuck?!?!?!?? I can't believe there are still people that suck on the television's proverbial teat so habitually, even if they are young Democrats like myself.

We have to take back the media, there is no question about it.

If I read two opposing articles -- one says, "Social security is on the rocks and only private accounts will save it!" and the other says "There is no crisis and private accounts are a corporate giveaway," I trust myself to be able to read the two articles, do some of my own research, and come to a solid conclusion about which one is accurate. MANY people -- I know them -- will just throw up their hands and say, "Who can you believe?"

So they wait for someone on TV to tell them the "truth."

It's a frightening phenomenon, and I've been wondering what the hell to do about it. The only thing I can think of is to teach children better critical thinking -- and to TRUST logic, analysis, and their own common sense.

Unfortunately, we seem to be going in the opposite direction -- teaching children that the logic and research behind, say, evolution, is "just a theory."

The spectre of a VIOLENT revolution in this country is just too horrible to contemplate.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but the revolution we NEED is the one that prevents the kind of economic collapse and/or fascism that would result in civil war.

9. I'm beyond that

point. I have already started thinking (please don't take this the wrong way folks) that all these marches and protests in the streets aren't effective enough. The media won't cover the events so they aren't doing enough to raise awareness. I do however think this one idea for a protest would do some major damage. Has anyone considered spreading the word to every left leaning organization out there that the best protest location would be Faux News? I mean if you look at it this way it might work. I don't know if that morning show they used to have, when it was first added to my local cable company a few years ago, is still on. If it is, I seem to remember that they had windows. I do know that some of those "live" daytime shows on several live mainstream shows have windows where people sometimes stand outside and get to be seen on television. If all of the organizations would pick a few key days when these shows expect higher viewership and protested in the window, it might actually make mainstream news. If that kind of protest was to happen instead of always marching in city streets and in Washington, then maybe it would at least make the cable news networks take notice that they need to pay more attention. I think it would be a better idea. I mean who covers the current protests besides C-Span. I know locally, no one really covers it except C-Span and hardly anyone, besides me, watches them. It is an idea I have been mulling over in my head for a while now along with using photos of casualties from the war on those placards instead of so many different slogans. A more unified approach and more teamwork on our part could get us somewhere. We need some mergers between major organizations to consolidate our power structure. With many many different groups doing many many different protests, they cannot seem to gain enough power to get heard or get anything major done. I'm not saying all should merge into one. That would be mass suicide. We should still have quite a few different groups, but we should come together and recruit people with advertising experience to make the signs (placards) easier to read and most importantly harder to forget. It's just an idea. I definitely want a revolution. It can't happen soon enough for me.

And the collateral damage just can't be borne. Also -- kick me for being optimistic -- but it ain't that bad yet.

Not to mention that the bulk of Americans don't think it's that bad, and you don't want to start a revolution where almost half of the voters (I'm factoring in a 5-10% vote theft for Schimpanski in 2004) actually supported the turd-in-chief.

All you'll get is your honor shredded and maybe your behind as well.

Let's try the system and work on the voter fraud issues.

I prefer to use the time tested value of democracy to advance our cause.

Bush is not worth the cost of fracturing our country.

He'll be gone in 4 years. If the party leadership can get it's head unstuck from it's rectum, we might move forward and regain power.

Operative word being regain, as we did once rule the government roost. The leadership pissed it away.

will not be. Instead, in four years, it will be even further intrenched than it is now. Many of the liberties we take for granted this moment will no longer be available to us. We may not even have access to such forums as this. Even if we do, our every keystroke and IP address will be monitored (if they aren't being already). The federal system is broken beyond repair and anyone who believes these pricks are going to simply go away because we don't like them is not living in the real world.

14. What difference does that make?

I like Audis, and I happened to buy a heavily used one that is cheaper than most people's cars on here. The fact that I like to do my own maintinence on it instead of taking it to the sDealer means I can spend even less money on it.

I don't like American cars, they're cheap, unsafe and prone to breakdown. I like to buy cheap, used foreign cars and maintain them myself. They perform better, and are much safer.

I can't believe someone that calls themself "DemocratSinceBirth" could be so obtuse as to believe that someone's avatar is a qualification for advocating a rebellion.

15. A Tax Revolution

Would be a great starter! Why are we paying taxes? Did you see all the proposed cuts mainly to social programs, more tax breaks for the rich, and I don't know about you but when was the last time you traveled on a Fed. highway system without having to dodge a couple of hundred pot holes.
No taxation without representation, or has that turned into "the cow jumped over the moon"?

Most Americans are content with their lot as long as they are entertained and convinced that "freedom" is about their ability to buy things. Most think they are living in the "greatest country in the world" (despite all the evidence to the contrary) and can't conceive of any sort of change other than the "democratic" window dressing of voting for one or the other capitalist parties.
