1. Wasn't Neil Bush the director of the World Trade Center security company?!
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 07:22 PM by Stop_the_War

2. He was on the Board of Directors
of a company that had a contract to do some electronic security at the WTC.

That doesn't give him any direct responsibility for security at the WTC. I think the connection is overblown.

Directors of a company typically have nothing to do with day-to-day operations.

6. I think it's Marvin Bush

Neil was scheduled to have dinner with John Hinckley's brother the day after the attempt on Reagan's life. Neil likes young Thai prostitutes and has genital herpes (I like saying that). Also invovled in Silverado Savings and Loan scandal.

8. The Neil Bush / Hinckley dinner date is one of those
big stories that went almost totally unreported, as did the business and friendship connections between George Bush Sr. and the Hinckley parents.

Where was ol' Peter Jennings then? Asleep?

7. Neil 1983 - 1991
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 08:27 PM by lwfern
1983 Neil Bush forms his first oil company. He puts in $100, his partners contribute $160,000 and Neil is named president of the firm, JNB Exploration.
Jeb Bush's business partner, Alberto Duque, goes bankrupt, is eventually convicted of fraud and is sentenced to 15 years in prison.
1984 Jeb Bush lobbies the Department of Health & Human Services on behalf of Cuban--American businessman Miguel Recarey, Jr., whose medical firm later collapses. Recarey, who was close to mobster Santos Trafficante, later disappears with at least $12 million in federal funds.

1985 Neil Bush joins the board of Silverado S&L, serves until 1988. Silverado loans his partners in JNB $132 million which they never repay. Silverado will eventually collapse at a taxpayer cost of $1 billion.
1989 Neil Bush bails out of JNB Exploration, the firm where he became president with a $100 ante, leaving his partners to worry about its debt. Days earlier he forms Apex Energy with a personal investment of $3000. The rest of the money -- $2.7 million -- comes from an SBA program designed to help "high risk start-up companies." Like JNB, it proves to be just that. Apex will later go belly-up with no assets.

1991
Neil Bush bails out of Apex Energy after collecting $320,000 in salary plus expenses. Bill Daniels, cable-TV magnate who has been lobbying against regulation of the cable industry, offers Neil a job. According to a representative, he "thought Neil deserved a second chance."

from http://www.tenntimes.org/SECTIONS/Big-Oil/bigoil-02.html

Little more on his business dealings:

Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp., a firm backed by Jiang Mianheng, the son of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, that would pay him $2 million in stock over five years.

(snip)

He said he joined the Grace board at the request of Winston Wong, a co-founder of the company and the son of Wang Yung-ching, the chairman of Taiwan's largest business group, Formosa Plastics Corp. Bush never mentioned Jiang Mianheng in the deposition.

Wong, he said, also is an investor in his latest venture, Ignite!, an Austin, Texas, educational software firm.

Brown questioned Bush about numerous other business ventures that paid him well to be a consultant and fundraiser, and, in at least one case, for little work.

Bush said he was co-chairman of Crest Investment Corporation, but worked only an average of three to four hours a week. For that, he received $15,000 every three months.

(snip)
The other co-chairman and principal of Crest is Jamal Daniel, a Syrian-American who is an advisory board member of New Bridge Strategies, a company set up this year by a group of businessmen with close links to the Bush family or administrations. Its chairman is Joe Allbaugh, George W. Bush's campaign director in the 2000 presidential elections.

Other figures at New Bridge include Ed Rogers, its vice-chairman and a senior official in the Reagan and first Bush administrations, and Lanny Griffith, with whom he works in the lobby firm Barbour Griffith & Rogers. Lord Charles Powell, adviser to former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, is listed as an advisory board member.

On its website, New Bridge describes itself as being created to "take advantage of business opportunities in the Middle East following the conclusion of the US-led war in Iraq".

another good article: http://msnbc.msn.com/Default.aspx?id=3694711&p1=0

"Neil Bush, most famous for the scandal surrounding the corrupt practices of Colorado's Silverado Savings & Loan, where he served as a director during the 1980s, also picked plums from Persian Gulf orchards. In 1993, after his father left the White House, Neil went to Kuwait with his parents, brother Marvin and former Secretary of State James A. Baker III. When his father left, Neil stayed to lobby for business contracts, and after returning home evolved a set of lucrative relationships with Syrian-American businessman Jamal Daniel. One of their ventures, Ignite!, an educational software company, also included representatives of at least three ruling Persian Gulf families. "

9. Some questions to ask yourself
First, look at the website of Neil's company:
http://www.ignitelearning.com/product.shtml

Now. Ask yourself why this company would have gotten investments from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the British Virgin Islands, Taiwan, and Japan.

And why would the Houston school board members unanimously agreed to accept $115,000 in charitable donations that would be funneled to Ignite?

Here's an odd WTC connection: "in January, 2002, he visited Saudi Arabia and a visit that was sponsored by the Saudi Bin Laden construction group and also the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, he was the fellow that offered $10 million to help the victims of the World Trade Center that Mayor Rudy Giuliani turned down."
