Poll question: The election of 2004 was:

Yes, this is a potential flamebait thread. I'm not trying to flame, I'm just surveying opinion at this point.

On edit: I've updated the poll.

2. I picked re-election...
If we all pick that we can move on to bigger and better things. It's over. Nothing's going to change it. If we continue to look in the rearview mirror, we're going to swerve off the road. What's the point of this poll anyway? Isn't it safe to assume that nobody here is happy about it?

4. I'm still tripping over that double negative...
Do you mean "is it safe to assume that everyone is happy?"

Are you sure you're in the right forum?

5. No, no, the negatives are in different clauses.
"Isn't it safe to assume that nobody here is happy about it?"

= Isn't it safe to assume (assertion),
(assertion) = "nobody here is happy about it"

I think it's safe to assume nobody here is happy about it. Well, probably almost nobody. For all I know somebody here likes taking a staple gun to their privates.

8. Ahhhh!
Thanks for the back-up! I wasn't quite sure what he meant. It was just stylistic.

7. Let me break it down for you
Part 1 of Sentence: Is it not safe to assume...

Part 2 of the sentence: that nobody here is happy about it...

The same though written differently... Is it safe to assume that everyone here is unhappy about it?

Perhaps it's a preference in writing style, but the message is the same.

3. FIXED
That was my choice, but it wasn't there. The re-selection kinda covered it, but let's call voter disenfranchisement, voter discouragement, voter intimidation, ballot tampering, machine adjusting, DIEBOLD shenanigans, and what not what it really was--the FIX was IN. They were not gonna be denied, and they did it on the margins. Man-date, yeah, right!

6. He may have gotten votes in other states legitimately...
But I will always remain convinced that, in Ohio, the "fix" was in several days before, and it went exactly according to "Chip" Rove's plan. Dub couldn't have won without Ohio, just as he couldn't have "won" without Florida in 2000--though he still didn't win that year, of course.:eyes:

B-)

9.  Yep!! I think every single state that was even halfway close
...had some vote shaving operations in full force by the GOP, not just the battlegrounds, though they were the centerpiece. They wanted to suppress the electoral results, of course, but I think they were motivated to suppress the popular vote as well, in order to claim their man-date!

16. I agree
I would go so far as to say that the election was fixed so he would win the popular vote with a majority. They padded states they new they would win.

13. Funny thing about those exit polls
They've been accurate for years, and are still accurate, except in states with Secretaries of State that also chair Repuke campaign committees.

What's likelier: that known and effective statistical techniques somehow break down under certain political conditions, or that the fix is in?

15. Bush's election in 2004 is as bad as January 30, 1933
the day in which Hitler became Chancellor of Germany.
