I am thrilled that you have been elected Party chair. I supported you in the primaries, and I think you know exactly what needs to be done to turn this party around. You are the only politician I've ever heard address the problem of media consolidation, and one of very few to point out how the Republicans are NOT fiscal conservatives anymore, and haven't been for a while.
We need a strong Democratic party to stand up against the abuses of the Constitution and the wastes of taxpayer dollars we are likely to see over the next four years. Bush's new budget cuts heating aid for the poor, Perkins loans for college students, and funding for first responders to fund the mess in Iraq and more tax cuts for the wealthy. That is ridiculous!
Okay, enough of my ranting. I just wanted to say that you have made me proud to be a Democrat again, at a time when I was losing hope. (It's hard when your leader in the Senate thinks that Scalia "would make a fine Chief Justice.") I don't have much money, being a broke college student working through school under the Bush economy, but I'm sending a donation in to support your work to get this party back on track.
