Secret Service and TX Rangers help in finding girl's killer

Police have arrested one man on a charge of hindering apprehension as they continue their investigation into the death of a 14-year-old girl found stabbed, bound and gagged in the playground of her apartment complex.

Meanwhile, police said Gustavo Flores, 19, remains a person of interest in their investigation of the death of Lan Thuan Bui. Detective Terry Stayer said police also are looking at others as the investigation continues.


Police said Sunday they have no motive in the murder and were searching areas near the apartment complex for a weapon. The Secret Service and the Texas Rangers are aiding the small police department in the investigation.

Police on Sunday also said they don't believe there is any connection between the death and gang ties that Lan's father, Phu Bui, 43, had before he went to prison to serve a 99-year sentence in the 1991 stabbing of a Watauga man.
