WASHINGTON - Republicans have abandoned banning gay marriage this year, the Senate's leader said yesterday.
A constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman grew less urgent because 13 states banned gay nuptials in November elections, said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.).

When asked if the legislation will be introduced, Frist replied, "Maybe not this year, but in all likelihood in this Congress."

2. Wow. Could Frist be any clearer?
"Maybe not this year, but in all likelihood in this Congress."

In 2006, when we need you dumb motherfuckers to vote for us. And you'll fall for it. Again. Suckers.

8. agreed
Any state that has a potentially close Senate race will have this issue appear on their ballot.

Same thing in 2008.

4. They will bring it back in 2006 and 2008
Not that they are just using it to rile up the most homophobic feelings within Americans or anything...

5. They are going to get rid of the "guy" books in Ala.
These people are really worried about this stuff. I hate to tell them but I can re-call gays getting married in the 50's in the town next to where the Bush's Summer. We all got a big kick out of it and J of P that married them thought it was fun also.

9. Ahhh...YES?
This is the "Dixiecrats become Repukes" issue of this generation. Democrats have been painted as "Godless" by the Neocons (not that this should be any particular slam), and it has become the DIVIDE AND CONQUER theme of the Right.

If you don't think so, start a RELIGION thread and don't forget to duck.
