Discussion with fanatic evangelicals this weekend.
I was having a discussion with some fundies this week end. They were talking about security for the kids at church. They now require the kids to wear badges similar to the badges many companies use for employees and visitors only they were using bar codes and scanning them in and out of the education section of the church.
That alone I thought was bazaar, but one of them said one day everyone will have little chips planted under their skin and we can just scan them as they go by.
I very quickly opened my mouth and said Oh yeah, just like Hitler tattooing the Jews.
It went over really well... One said well it would only be used for good. Yeah RIGHT!

1. Holy Shit. "It would only be used for good?"
Have we learned NOTHING from Hitler and the Holocaust? Apparently not.

2. "One said well it would only be used for good. "
LOL! That's what Hitler said. And besides, wouldn't an implanted chip be the mark of the beast?

3. should have said that was the "Mark of the Beast"....which it is..that
would have shut them up.

a mark will be put on the left hand or the fore head of all the followers of the 'AntiChrist' and they will be able to buy and sell, the faithful to Christ will suffer tribulations, they and their families suffer and die from the AntiChrists persecution..but god will reward them with heaven... and i hope a lot of Virgins..lots and a LOTs of Virgins..

4. They usually think that's the "Mark of the Beast"
I used to know a guy who refused to carry a debit card because Revelations prophesies that one day you will be able to buy stuff by just waving your hand, and that this was a sign of the coming Armageddon.

It's also funny that they are talking about the bar codes on people, because a lot of fundies think that this type of scanner system will be the "Mark of the Beast" from Revelations.

It's always scary to talk to these people, isn't it?

7. I think these people are among those who think we should
try to start Armageddon do rush the process from Revelations.
They do not want to wait.

16. They are worried that they are wrong,
And they don't want to end up looking (or remembered) like the bozos who thought that aliens were coming to take them away on a comet. They are getting desperate, and they just have to be right about it at all costs.

17. Big to-do
A few years ago in WV (Elkins, I think) where a teacher refused to wear a bar-coded ID card because to him it represented the mark of the beast. The cards were being implemented to identify people who belonged in the school during the day from visitors, or people with no good reason to be there.

6. Will I have to take a test on what I believe to get one?
Can I just carry a "Left Behind" book?

11. Only used for good......Good for the Devil
What is considered good for one is not necessarily good for all. Tatooing Jews was "good" for Hitler and the "Super Race" but ask a Jew how good it was for them.

Isn't it just like them to decide the "mark of the beast" is okay just as long as Bush gives it to them.

13. not all evangelicals are fundamentalists
believe it or not, some evangelicals are liberals and upset by the direction "fundies" are going. We need to be careful not to include all evangelicals when we diss 'em. (I can't think of any fundamentalists who are not worth of dissing. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

14. I agree 100% with you and I am in that category
It bothers me that I have to deal with people like this when all I want to do is go to church.
There are Evangelicals then there are radical fundamental Evangelicals.
