BRAD BLOG: CNN's Nuke Plant Photos Identical for Both Iran and N. Korea!
CNN's Nuke Plant Photos Identical for Both Iran and N. Korea!
Who's the source for the photos?!
And are there any responsible corporate media outlets left in America?!

Two stories posted in the last week on the CNN website, one on nukes in Iran last Wednesday, and another on nukes in N. Korea on Saturday, both use the same aerial photograph of the same purported nuclear power plant!

But one is supposed to be in Iran and the other is supposed to be in North Korea!

Who's the source for these photos?

The BRAD BLOG asks that and more at:
http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001187.htm

76. More than likely not...
They don't seem to really care about anything -- they've been locked into a mental prison with "reality" TV that is staged as much as they've been locked into our "real" world by the Directors of this comedy in Washington. No shackles are as sickening as those which bind far too many American minds in the interest of preserving their freedoms. Impeachment? I would hope that the American people and our Congress will come around, but everyday things are becoming more grime and the ho-hum continues as if nothing is wrong... We have never had a president as covered in chicanery and lies as this man, and we've never had such a criminal in the White House. Whereas, others might have been simply naive, Bush and his cronies are criminals of the worse sort -- they play on the passions and fears of Americans to control them through subtle machinations. Pray that they can wake from their stupor long enough to rise up in fiery anger and indignation at what has happened to our country. Pray that they will unseat the Directors and put good sense and morality back at the head of our foreign and domestic policies.

when the whole house of cards implodes as it surely must, and they find themselves jobless and on the streets. Frosts my butt to know the crash will take most of us with it though...

2. Quite funny in a way...
... but I suspect that there's a more nefarious motive at work. The photos weren't used interchangeably, which would suggest a mistake. The two are cropped differently, and that suggests a motive to deceive.

Good catch.

109. Hahahaha!!!
Either that, or our "intelligence" (used lightly) "experts" (used facetiously) have a kit of their own, entitled "How to spread propaganda against nations who either have assets we want or are considered a threat to our security."

The basic kit contains a couple of draft speeches, with catchy phrases like "axis of evil" and "outposts of tyranny" along with compelling photos of nuke plants, show-and-tell vials for use at the UN and a Congress full of weenies. Photos of troops massing on on a neighboring country's border (to ensure that country's cooperation) are of course, sold separately!

56. For Those Who Still Can't See It...
Focus on the circle in the lower right section of the top photo...and the buildings around it...then look at the bottom photo...appears to be the same buildings in a close up.

No surprise here...psyops at CNNservative continue to run their stealth misinformation campaign on behalf of the Pentagon and CIA.

My question has, and is, how do we know this is the facility or A facility that is doing what this regime says? If there's some sort of radioactivity going on there, couldn't it be detected? I'm told these satellites have thermal detection devices that can pinpoint those things.

The U.S. gave the Shah several nuclear reactions in the 70's...when Kissinger and the Shah screwed Iraq and the Kurds on the Shatt-Al-Arab dispute (a major cause of the Iran-Iraq war...good going Hank). So we know about these reactors...and I'll bet they've been there for over 25 years.

After the Iraq lies, how can anyone in the International community take anything this regime says seriously?

95. Reminds me of the identical "grafitti" that appeared
after the Grenada invasion in 1983 and the Panama invasion in 1992(?): white spray paint saying "God Bless America" and "Thank you President Reagan/Bush."

I'd love to link the photos, but they both appeared in Time magazine, which, of course, did not have Internet archives at the time.

I was half-expecting to see similar "grafitti" appearing in Iraq.

According to a sociologist who had done work on Grenada, locals told him that the grafitti had been put up by white men in the middle of the night.

This is really outrageous. If we had a real free press, this would be on every front page in the nation.

If it isn't a bribed reporter it's a fake reporter. Now they don't even seem to care how much they lie or how often they get caught. They couldn't even be bothered to find two different photos to wrap their lies around. I guess if you've seen one terrorist nation's nuclear plant you've seen them all.

Not all of them are stupid; some of them just don't happen to read the news on the internet as much as we do.

Frankly, I DO read the news on the internet, daily, and I'd have probably been fooled by this if Bradblog and the posters here hadn't pointed it out.

We need to MAKE people understand that governments and media DO lie.

What's REALLY funny (but also sad in a way) is the way so many people dismiss theories (such as 9/11 being an inside job), claiming they are "ridiculous", yet swallow shit like THIS on a daily basis.

Most people are uninformed. The stupid people are the ones that refuse to question what comes down from the powers-that-be; the stupid people are the ones who refuse to even entertain a thought that is outside their ingrained mode of thinking.

Note the text on top of the image
, middle left on the "Iran" photo

And the "credit" to DIGITAL GLOBE is in the exact same spot, the exact same dimensions on the right lower half of each image

AND - IF one believes this is an "error" at CNN, wouldn't one have to question the person who released the article? - I mean checking up on the validity/authenticity of photos of this nature when the US is at WAR should be priority #1!

Wonder if the WH "leaked" these photos?

Remember this old story?

Appellate Court Rules Media Can Legally Lie.

By Mike Gaddy
Published 02. 28. 03 at 19:31 Sierra Time

On February 14, a Florida Appeals court ruled there is absolutely nothing illegal about lying, concealing or distorting information by a major press organization. The court reversed the $425,000 jury verdict in favor of journalist Jane Akre who charged she was pressured by Fox Television management and lawyers to air what she knew and documented to be false information. The ruling basically declares it is technically not against any law, rule, or regulation to deliberately lie or distort the news on a television broadcast.

On August 18, 2000, a six-person jury was unanimous in its conclusion that Akre was indeed fired for threatening to report the station's pressure to broadcast what jurors decided was "a false, distorted, or slanted" story about the widespread use of growth hormone in dairy cows. The court did not dispute the heart of Akre's claim, that Fox pressured her to broadcast a false story to protect the broadcaster from having to defend the truth in court, as well as suffer the ire of irate advertisers.

Fox argued from the first, and failed on three separate occasions, in front of three different judges, to have the case tossed out on the grounds there is no hard, fast, and written rule against deliberate distortion of the news. The attorneys for Fox, owned by media baron Rupert Murdock, argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves.

In its six-page written decision, the Court of Appeals held that the Federal Communications Commission position against news distortion is only a "policy," not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation.

Fox aired a report after the ruling saying it was "totally vindicated" by the verdict.

There are laws about truth in advertising if it's cereal or mouthwash...

But no laws about truth in news (or political ads)?

And they can reviews ads against the SS plan or a church that welcomes all people because they are too controversial, but they accept ads for the plan?

It's scary. The fourth estate is just another branch of the administration and that is protected by law?

We were lied into war in Iraq with falsely labeled photos that Colin Powell presented to the United Nations. Just because we're told that these are Evil Nuclear Sites, what's not to say that they're something entirely different and more benign?

A satellite photo with a scary narration must no longer be our reason to kill.

I just found a story at Radio Free Europe:

North Korea: Six-Way Talks Seen As Neither Success Nor Failure

http://www.rferl.org/featuresarticle/2004/03/c942be0e-f698-4677-b73c-b1cba3bc60e6.html

With this picture:

Yup - it's the same photo. So the photo must be from North Korea.

But the filename of the photo is:

rferl.org/images/photo/iraq-nuclear.jpg

So it appears that what's going on here is that there's one photo going around that people are just throwing into articles about <insert axis of evil member here> nuclear sites.

Somewhat different orientation. The idea was that Saddam was moving shit around ahead of the inspectors.

64. I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss this as an "innocent" error
At a certain point, looseness with the facts -- oh, grab any old picture, don't bother checking the properties! -- becomes a deliberate tactic to blur reality. Iran, N. Korea... well, they're all the same, right? We don't bother distinguishing, because you don't need to distinguish.

An innocent error, my foot: NOT checking to make sure you have the right picture is a deliberate decision. They ARE going to play fast and loose with reality -- it's corporate policy.

83. Exactly, I still haven't figured out why more people...........
have noticed this about this current crop of crooks we have. Royalties and empires often did this throughout history to exercise the power they felt they had. They would say the sky was green and eventually everybody would say the sky is green and the point would become moot.

MOOT POINT

From Nancy Maclaine: “Did the phrase a moot point originally mean ‘a debatable point’? Nowadays it seems to mean ‘an irrelevant point’ or even ‘a point so irrelevant it’s not worth debating’. Some actually have taken to referring to it as a mute point. What’s the history here?”

69. OK. I decided to actually go to the source here.
My earlier vigorous defense of CNN notwithstanding, I would agree with those who have argued that this is really shoddy.

I just googled the image source "Digital Globe ISIS" and found this page:

The Iranian Gas Centrifuge Uranium Enrichment Plant at Natanz: Drawing from Commercial Satellite Images

http://www.isis-online.org/publications/iran/natanz03_02.html

Which includes this picture, among others:

It is Iran. But lazy/inept journalists at CNN and elsewhere don't really care enough to check.

jesus fucking christ!! Is everyone, including Skinner scared to tell the truth when the facts are right in front of us? This is blatant propaganda and psyops in action. Unfortunately for the Nazi-Busholini Regime there are a few people who are too intelligent, BUT fortunately for them the intelligent people are few and far between.

This is a mobile nukler power plant that Sadam put on the market just before the UN inspectors conducted the last weapons search. It comes with a 90 day trial period. You can test it before you buy it. If you look very closely you can see the broken red IAEA tag and lock from the first Gulf war inspectors. That's why we didn't find the WMD'S. Jeez, can't you all git it rite.....:dunce:

Who needs a stinkin picture. Get the same person that did the sketches for Colon Powell to present at the U.N.

This is Bush's America. We don't need proof, we don't need pictures, and we don't need anyone elses' opinions. We don't even need enough military to go to war with one country. Why should Bush care about anything but "our freedom."

By the way, which picture is right? Anyone know? Is the picture an actual picture from Iran? Is it from Korea?

I do not think they have used this picture before or it would have been used for Iraq. Hmmmm, anyone remember any REAL pictures from Iraq????

But that image looks like a plain gravel/stone quarry to me.

We used to fly over a large quarry every time I flew into Milwaukee, and the excavation in the upper corners of this photo look just like that stone and gravel quarry. Not to say that its not what they say it is, but every item in that photo is consistent with the mining, processing and distribution of stone and gravel.

124. still...
this still works towards the laziness of CNN editors. I'm quite familiar with the layout of their site, and all they did was essentially "label" the picture wrong. The article never really points to the picture and says "this here is the photo", though it is implied. The editor then throws a crappy caption on the photo that says "Photo of N. Korean nuke facility" and bingo! You've got an article. Most of what I've been readin on here makes it sound as if it's a big propaganda piece, when I really think it was just lazy editors who could give a rat's ass if they incorrectly label a .gif wrong or not. Still, it IS quite silly to think that your "#1 Name in News" could be the head of so many misleading pieces...

Our MSM is shameful...

118. Not the same photo anymore. Over reacting?
I just looked at the photos for the first time, and they are not remotely the same. (One of the photos does not match the one on the blog.) Also, both the photos now shown are attributed to Digital Globe / ISIS.
But consider. The photos provide no information or proof of anything since we already know that both NC and Iran do have nuclear facilities, and it is obviously simple to provide real photos of the sites in question. It seems likely to me that what we have is either a stupid mistake (now corrected), amazingly lazy journalism, or (likely) both.
I don't really see any advantage to either the administration or the news agency in deliberately faking the photos.
It’s like reporting on drug deal that took place in the parking lot of a McDonald's, and showing the wrong McDonald's parking lot… yeah, it’s wrong, but so what? It does not affect the story at all.

So I suspect that proposing a conspiracy based on these photos is a bit of an overreaction.
