She is the mother of a 9/11 victim.

She says that Bush has made Islam synonymous with "terrorism".

She's right, this may be worth watching.

is misstating that 500,000 Jews were killed in the Holocaust, and many more Muslim have been killed.

What do you bet that that one mistake will cause fascist fundies & cable news hairdos to ignore her completely?

5. That Is Not A Mistake, Ma'am

That is at best willfull ignorance in service of a propaganda point. It is sufficient to call in question the soundness of someone's grasp of facts and view of the world.

It does not, however, affect several basic points of the situation.

Moslem citizens of the United States are entitled to every right and protection as any citizen of the United States, and even if defending this proposition is unpopular, it must nonetheless be done.

Many Moslems in the United States, particularly rsident aliens, have been treated abhorently, and for no good reason or particularly useful purpose.

That some Moslems attacked the United States does not mean all Moslems must be trated as enemies of the United States; that many policies of the United States are unpopular with many Moslems, even, does not make them enemies of the United States. Whether the U.S. is actually embarked on a war against Islam or no, the fact that many Moslems perceive it to be embarked on such a war must be dealt with, for they will act on that belief, whether true or no.
