she's says the Navy runs across the Iranian Navy a lot but it's all professional, now the pentagon is starting to worry about a mishap with our navy and theirs...the 1st thing that comes to my mind is The Gulf of Tonkin.

in the Arabian Gulf and at night we would monitor the radio traffic on the bridge. I constantly heard our Navy using coarse tones and language when addressing the Iranan Navy.....the kind of tone that would be used to provoke an antagonistic response.
The U.S. Navy announces itself as the "Coalition Navy" when calling another vessel. On the bridge of the RV the Captain, crew, and I would laugh our ass off when that was announced. We heard one reply to the "coalition" Navy when someone (we think a fisherman) blew rasberries into the radio microphone. The local method of telling Bush's Navy to piss-off.

7. Anyone Remeber the 80's??? |
|
We sent more and more ships into the Persian Gulf...taking over protection of the oil routes...and I remember regular skirmishes with U.S. patrols and Iranians. This was also the time when Iraq sank the U.S.S. Stark...the only time Iraq ever attacked anything American.
IIRC, these skirmishes happened until we shot down an Iranian airliner killing several hundred people. Then Raygun backed off...and somehow the Iran/Iraq war got settled shortly thereafter.

Needs an instant boot to the head.
Seriously, is anyone here at DU buying any of this.
Hmmm, A Gulf of Tonkin or fabricated event would work real nicely right now. The draft would fall quite neatly into place.
I'm on the PNAC hotline right now and Mr Perle is lovin this idea.

11. There was a report yesterday about Iranians mass producing torpedos. |

I'm thinking that could be quite effective.
