on the one hand, you have the internal rise to power of a wing of the republican party known as the neoconservatives, who have literally nothing to do with the original conservative values (fiscal conservancy, small government, LOCAL government, and most importantly, FISCAL CONSERVANCY) but who have literally taken the reigns of the party and our government. this internal coup could be the cause of friction within the party, and may be the catalyst of a rebirth of the democratic party (in conjunction with paleocon values). the leaders and most importantly the soldiers of the democratic party now need to take advantage of this rift within the repub ranks.
on the other hand, you have an organization that excels at dirty tricks and making their opponents underestimate them...this could also be a trick. key repubs, people we might trust to help us, could turn out to be plants, who would then facilitate the grabbing of greater power by the repubs.
i think we need to be cautious, but also bold. if we sit back and let them war, the stronger of the factions would emerge stronger than either and free from doubt...but if we involve ourselves in such a war, we open ourselves up to attack, but also open our way up to denying the repubs control of the gov't.
the 5th column of the repub media attack machine will play a part in this as well, and we need to recruit such allies as we can find among their ranks...internal dissension among the repubs works in our favor...if we can stand united against them. for internal dissension among our ranks works in their favor.
so key among all this is our unity as a party, and our agreement on what is more important: each of our smaller issues, or the greater issue of the choice to tackle each of the smaller issues. we can't let them attack anymore, we need to launch our own initiative.
what is really important about this war is gaining the trust and support of the population, for eliminating voting machine discrepancies means nothing without the support of the nation.
just my $0.02.
