any democrat who has hannity's early endorsement needs a serious challenge from the grassroots left of the party.

Jim Calhoun (Coach of the UConn men's basketball team, for those who don't know) is extremely popular in state and is an old time Boston Irish Catholic liberal Democrat in the Teddy Kennedy mold. I doubt he'd run, though.

I don't think the high profile Dems in state would challenge him - Larson, DeLauro or Blumenthal. If one of those 3 knocked off Lieberman, Nancy Johnson would jump right into the race on the R side and it would be tough.

The only way Lieberman doesn't get the Senate seat is if he decides to retire. Nobody in state can beat him.
