Some points we should consider with the Jeff Gannon “scandal” (IMHO):
* It is NOT about Gannon/Guckert being gay; it’s about the LIES and DECEIT!

>The WH has already come under fire for media manipulation

- the “payola” scandals
-“Infomercials” made to look like actual news reports
- He has all the earmarks of a GOP “plant” to help further
media manipulation

>Gannon/Guckert was obviously granted access that he should not have had based on his lack of credentials

-Congress previously denied him press access
-There is still some question over whether he had Daily or Permanent passes (see KO’s interview “some reporters saw him with something that LOOKED like” a permanent pass)
-He had access to the memos in the Plame outing scandal.
-He had what appears to be access to the “Rathergate” memos

>He had to “hide” his sexuality in order to support a homophobic administration. Why couldn’t he be honest with himself ?

>He was a prostitute, which is illegal (although, personally, I have no problems with the “oldest profession” and personally think it is a dumb law – male or female), yet it appears that the WH admin ignored his illegal activities

*GOP hypocrisy
>During the VP debates, Cheney thanked Edwards for his kind words regarding Cheney’s lesbian daughter.

>During the Presidential debates, the Cheney’s lambasted Kerry for even mentioning their lesbian daughter.

>Alan Keyes daughter was very brave in coming out. The way her family has reacted is despicable and the farthest thing from “family love and family values”. Contrast her story with Gannon/Guckert, who not only refused to admit his own sexuality but conspired with those who are seeking to repress individual sexuality. Hmmm, maybe that repression only helps his own prostitution business?

If Scotty Mac is outed (and it looks like he may be), then I think we should openly COMMEND Bush (wait for it) for expanding his Staff's diversity to include not just other ethnicities but Gays as well, and plead with him to retain Scotty. Then, just sit back and watch the Fundies go ballistic!

BTW, I was really tempted to insert the “not that’s there’s anything wrong with that” line several times, but I get the impression from the posts of some of our GLBT brothers and sisters that they’re sick of that tired old Seinfeld joke. Let’s remember to be considerate of their feelings as this scandal unfolds – we are not on their side, they are not on our side – we are all part of the SAME side!

1. The real story is who his sugar daddy in the WH is
and I don't think Scotty's got the pull to get him past the FBI and Secret Service. It's somebody a little higher up, and much mroe influential.

My money's on Scooter Libby.

Who was "Gannon's" client in the White House?

I'm expecting this to blow into a major, major scandal, with full media feeding frenzy. I mean, if the Monica Lewinsky affair is BIG NEWS, I would surely expect a male prostitute in the White House to be an even BIGGER story..... :wow:

I mean, I expect to see video clips of our Commander in Chief calling on "Gannon" to ask a question over and over and over and over and over and over (well, you get the picture)....

if not for the hypocricy of Big Media, the Republicans in Congress, and the "Religious" organization behind the George W. Bush Administration. :eyes:

3. Very good points
and, in addition to lies and deceit, I'd add hypocrisy.

4. How about the RW Non-Outrage?
Edited on Mon Feb-14-05 10:12 PM by RobertSeattle
What if:
1. It was 1994 thru 1999
2. A "reporter" from "DEMUSA.COM" frequently was at the White House with a Day pass.
3. A "reporter" used a phony name.
4. A "reporter" was associated with various sex/dating websites
5. A "reporter" threw softball questions to the President's Press Secretary and even the President of the White House.

Does anyone in their "right" mind think all of Freeperdom/Drudge/Etc would be foaming at mouth over this "scandal"?

Yawn - IOKIYAR.

6. They're not all cheats and liars. Check this out:
"The bigger question is how did “Gannon” gain inside access to the White House only five days after Talon News Service was established? Was that long enough to run a background check? Did he have inside help? Did an earlier background check only turn up the problem that it would not look good if he were reporting for GOPUSA?"

8. No, all of them aren't. But they put a liar and a cheat in the WH...
and we just need to make the rest of them aware of it. Too many of them believe the lies. That's the point, we need to help them see THROUGH the lies and SEE the truth! Once they do and set the Kool-aid down, then we can actually SAVE this country! Then we can have a true Uniter, not a Divider.

7. You're right. They wouldn't. More of their hypocrisy!
MSM jumped all over Clinton's BJ. You'd think this would be plenty "juicy" for them.
