"The Conservative Voice" Gets It !!! re: Gueckert/Gannon the WH Playtoy
At least one of the connies didn't get a talking point memo:

By Roderick Oglethorpe

John Aravosis at AMERICAblog.org has dug up seven websites where Jeff Gannon / James Guckert offers himself for sale as an “escort”. Here is some mild text from one page "Ex-USMC Jock: Available for hourly, overnight, weekend or longer travel - OUT ONLY!"

Personal Trainer: Safe-Sane-Strenuous-Satisfying workouts, Sports training, and competition, especially wrestling....

Big SPORTS Fan: Will go to the game with you, then take you home and....

"AGGRESIVE, VERBAL, DOMINANT TOP. I DON'T LEAVE MARKS....ONLY IMPRESSIONS." Aravosis’s article contains particulars on what “services” he offered, how much he charged, links to x-rated pictures of him, and Guckert’s non-denials of any of this information.

One part in this story that has yet to surface is related to “Gannon”’s claim in his bio to have "taught in the public school system". Since Guckert’s degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania is in Physical Education, he presumably was a gym teacher. Many parents will be unhappy that boys’ gym was taught by a gay prostitute that likes to wrestle, even if they can accept a discretely gay English teacher.

The bigger question is how did “Gannon” gain inside access to the White House only five days after Talon News Service was established? Was that long enough to run a background check? Did he have inside help? Did an earlier background check only turn up the problem that it would not look good if he were reporting for GOPUSA?

Finally there are the blackmail questions which exist for gays who are not “out of the closet”. Was Guckert blackmailing someone associated with the White House? Was somebody blackmailing Guckert or using Guckert’s services to blackmail someone else?

“Gannon” definitely got special treatment from the White House. So far the White House has denied this, saying anybody in a similar position could get daily press passes. Refusing to acknowledge his special treatment only leads to speculation that blackmail is somehow involved.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING mainstream about their twisted agenda of greed and domination. Please call them the Corporate Media. The more we repeat this, the easier it will take root.

Thanks. How you doin', btw?

...are Progressive on the issues, and therefore directly opposed to the Corporate Media's agenda. That's about as radical and un-mainstream as it gets.

Besides, Corporate Media is accurate - and scores us more rhetorical points.

19. I have been using CPNs - Corporate Propaganda Networks.
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 11:00 AM by higher class
Whatever it is called - the emphasis has to be on corporate. The person who receives a check that reads MSNBC is really under the orders of GE. CNN - Time Warner. FOX - Rupert Murdoch, etc. The partnerships with the right wing at the highest end of the ownership pyramid.

And each of the networks have partners in magazines and newspapers.
NBC-Newsweek etc. NY Post (and many others) -FOX. So, they also go up the ladder to GE and Murdoch in their own way.

12. Are We Sure This Guy's A REAL Conservative?
Take the man's pulse, he speaks the truth. There goes his free subscription to American Spectator.

You bring up a great point of the distrust of the media from both right and left...and our bitches are virtually the same...media bias.

The networks will claim since they piss off both sides, they're "doing their job". Bullshit. They're only purpose is to serve their corporate master's agenda...their profits and power.

But getting people pissed is what the cable networks play for. They want the right to hate the left and visa versa so both sides will watch their food fights and talk tree houses. Say good, say bad, just say...and getting this reaction beats the old way of little or no notice of their profession...back when the only way you'd know of a columnist or reporter would be to be an industry insider or one of their parents.

The right decided to fight the bias and set up two seperate networks...one through hate radio, another through christian radio...where their "view of the world" goes unchallenged and had been abused by the GOOP to win elections and prey on most of these people.

It's time Progressives and Liberals took part of this playbook and create our own new voices that can't be censored, cancelled or distorted. Ah, to dream.

It's good to see at least one person on that side seeing the trees through the forest here and it would be a wonderful surprise is one of these "pundits" who see what a threat this regime and the corporate media is to their side and causes, and to join with us to force corporate media to be accountable to the American public/consumer and not their corporate masters. Maybe someone actually can see their remaining press freedoms are in serious danger if corporate media isn't shamed into cleaning up their own house.

16. I am loving all the comments posted - they DO get it! n/t
Well, that takes the cake. I can't DO this anymore. I can't support the GOP, I cannot support these so-called conservatives in power, and tomorrow I am switching my party affiliation to independent. It's obvious to me that the lunatics have taken over the asylum. They sold us a menu of "family values" but it is really all about my child in Iraq getting shot, maybe killed, for Halliburton, cheap oil, and profit for the corporate pigs. After thirty years with the party, I turn my back. I am sick, sad, disgusted. I'm starting to think these liberals have a point. That may say more about the state of our government than them, but I'm finished--not one more dime, not one more moment of my time to help a single one of them get elected.

<snip>

You do not understand....that was the VERY LAST STRAW. I don't like that man, the torture memo fellow, who puts my child at risk with his eagerness to wipe his hiney with the Geneva conventions, any more than you do. I don't like the Halliburton spending, I don't like the SUVs all over town, getting ten miles a gallon, that my kid could die for, so those people don't have to pay big money for a full tank. It is not one issue, it is many. This is the end of the line for me. I feel betrayed.

I don't CARE that the fake reporter was gay. I care that he apparently got into the White House BECAUSE he was a prostitute, gay or otherwise, because he has some kind of personal relationship with the press secretary, McClellan. We were so eager to excoriate Clinton for Monica, but no one wants to deal with this story. There is no truth anymore. They've lied to us, they told us they were better, when in actual fact, they are worse.

<snip>

What it means is this...they SAID they were better. They SAID they were going to restore honor and dignity to the White House. 1,500 of our children are DEAD. 17,000 of our children are wounded, some of them grievously. And they are busy treating with whores, while they wave the Bible at us. Bush said it best, "Fool me once, won't get fooled again." To hell with him and his sleazy friends.

<snip>

1st time Republican visitor. We voted for this administration for “ MORAL VALUES” what fools are we? Personally I’d rather see the gays have some sort of civil marriage than be ruled by these kind of phonies. Now we may invade Iran and what do we do about Korea. The rest of the world hates us, and here we sit and watch the WHITE HOUSE become a brothel. God I thought Clinton was bad enough.

Know what I mean? And he was a school teacher??? I thought he was in the military? So how could he have been both? He doesn't look that old. And if he is in the military is he now out and that's why he's not in Iraq and/or Afghanstain?

If it's someone who accepts money, goods or services in exchange for sexual favors then quite a number of children have been taught by whores over the years.

So I'd also object to a gay male prostitute. Or frankly, to a female prostitute. I wouldn't object to a left-handed midget albino eskimo speed skating lesbian. The main point being, I'd rather not have my kids taught by someone that sells or for that matter, demonizes, sex. Ah, but a perfect world we do not live in.

Hell, I'd object to "Gannon" teaching my kids because he's a right-wing nutjob, THEN I'd object to his being a prostitute.

My god, the focus of the article is that the conservatives see the hypocrisy of the admin! This will not change them and make them liberals overnight, but it will change their view of the weed. Stop taking offense to the non-issue -- start appreciating the little steps.

I pray that poetic justice will provide that this admin will fail because of a sex scandal. What's worse than Clinton getting a blow job in the oval office? The weed or his admin getting blow jobs from male prostitutes and letting that prostitute have a job in the WH.

Little steps.

44. Gay or straight dosen't matter
What matters is if they know the boundries.

When I was in Jr. high, our biology teacher ended up living with a student...and she was 13 at the time and he was married.

In high school, two teachers hit on me when I was 16. Another teacher (one who didn't hit on me) ended up living with one of his students. At least she was closer to 18 than 13.

Let me make it clear, these are all hetro males I'm talking about, and I'm female. No one should assume that because someone is gay or straight it will have any bearing on their morals.

In my time as a student, the gym teachers never got busted. There weren't even rumors.

Closest thing was when my High School history teacher came to class stoned one day and he bragged about (shall we say) "making love" to the female gym teacher.

Our history teacher got stoned a lot.

I wonder why he wasn't invited back for a second year...

52. My junior high gym teacher was evil, too!
She was crazy. She would only give you an "A" on the exam (running a mile) if you ran it in seven minutes or less--it didn't matter how much you took off your time, it didn't matter if you had any issues with running (a friend with asthma was flunked because she had to stop and get her inhaler in order to finish, which took too long), nothing mattered but what the stopwatch said.

The year after I had her, she got in trouble for having the girls tie up their partners for sit-ups, as apparently they had their arms in the wrong place and needed them tied down. Like I said, crazy.

32. I'm glad to see that both sides seem to be in agreement on this.
The chasm between the right and left has grown so wide, it will take generations (if ever) to be able to return to civilized dialog about issues. (I'm not talking about fascist neo-con fundamentalist theocrats here, I'm talking about Repubs) There are always at least 2 sides to every issue and the best way to clean up an idea is to get as much input as possible before making a final decision.

The Hate Propaganda spewing out of Limbaugh & Co. is so destructive to our democracy. I don't like to dehumanize people so that I can psychologically prepare myself to go to war with them, but its come to that with these neocons.

Not all repubs are neo-cons however. Thanks for this reminder - some of the guys on the other side of the aisle "Get This". Awesome.

36. The replies are like little lights going on
Except for this one...

---------------------------------------

Dear Lord:
Thank you, Jesus, for putting a God-fearing man in the Whitehouse. And thank you for allowing him to spread the light of peace, your meek and humble peace, in Iraq.

Hold the President's hand, Lord, as he resides in the house of depravity. Just this night, Dear Father, homosexuals like Herbie Handcock and other gay musicians were signing and dancing with our leaders at his Saint Valentine's Day celebration.

Dear Heavenly Father, help Mr. Bush see the error in allowing homosexuals into his life and home. Protect The President from their evil, seductive, libertine ways. Show Mr. Bush that their sensuous mouths and dewey eyes are the instruments of only physical satisfaction, and not the path of Righteousness.

I ask for this intervention in your name, Lord Jesus.

---------------------------------------

Some remain totally clueless.

Others are finally having to admit that there's trouble in paradise.

"sensuous mouths and dewey eyes are the instruments of only physical satisfaction"

That had me rollin'

Or WhiteHouse.org

All satire sites.

"Show Mr. Bush that their sensuous mouths..."

Yep.

Looks like Sister Taffy's work.

56. That post had me LMAO!

I just wasted way too much time reading the posts over there. I mean, As much as I love DU, I must admit we were totally out-funnied by that thread.

Here's one of my favorites:

Re: Jeff Gannon / James Guckert: a gay prostitute
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but Bush is like Teflon (or KY). He'll claim ignorance, people will believe him, Rove will spin it, Gannon will end up in the Potomic or commit suicide.... End of story.

==========================================

You sure?? Seems to me that Gannon, in Bushworld, qualifies for The Medal of Freedom.

38. Well at least the * administration told the truth on this one.
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 03:59 PM by Spike from MN
"So far the White House has denied this, saying anybody in a similar position could get daily press passes."

The operative words here are "similar position." Anyone willing to pose as a "reporter" to ask softball questions would most certainly be able to obtain a daily press pass from the WH.

And anyone that has been given money (probably by some of the higher-ups in the administration) in return for (homo)sexual favors certainly would be in a position to garner favors from the WH in return for their silence. A daily press pass may be considered such a favor.

C'mon guys. The WH told the truth. Cut 'em some slack on this one. ;)

46. Some really good replies to this article
Lightbulbs are flickering on everywhere!
http://www.theconservativevoice.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2952

What we refer to as the optimisim of the right and the cynicism of the left is the very culture clash that makes a situation like this possible.

It is extremely difficult for a real believer to open their eyes in a prayer circle to make sure that the person who called them to worship is not picking their pocket. It feels like a lapse in faith. It pollutes the act of prayer and makes us feel less worthy.

It is our natural impulse to never question the faith or intentions of one who witnesses, to doubt others is to doubt ourselves.

I'm somewhat innoculated to this simple failing through virtue because I have been involved with investigating criminal enterprises on the faith healer and revival meeting circuit and I was at one time an active contributor to cult watch.

It seems to me that our President and his administration have counted heavily on this virtue of trust among the faithful. He tells us he is born again. To have any reaction other than joy for him and praise for the Lord Almighty simply feels faithless and wrong.

To those of us who have had their pockets picked while kneeling in prayer with other faithful, the powerful impulse not to open one's eyes becomes much easier to overcome.

49. Even better is this comment to Oglethorpe's OP at the conservative site
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 05:50 PM by Nothing Without Hope
I found this in the comment thread following the OP you give. It's a reply to Oglethorpe's post, dated Feb 14:

Well, that takes the cake. I can't DO this anymore. I can't support the GOP, I cannot support these so-called conservatives in power, and tomorrow I am switching my party affiliation to independent. It's obvious to me that the lunatics have taken over the asylum. They sold us a menu of "family values" but it is really all about my child in Iraq getting shot, maybe killed, for Halliburton, cheap oil, and profit for the corporate pigs. After thirty years with the party, I turn my back. I am sick, sad, disgusted. I'm starting to think these liberals have a point. That may say more about the state of our government than them, but I'm finished--not one more dime, not one more moment of my time to help a single one of them get elected.

edited to add: The same person posted another comment the following day (Feb 15) in response to a reply to his earlier comment that he/she felt showed a lack of understanding of the point. This is really excellent, though the possible relationship with McClellan is not really the point:

They've lied to us, they told us they were better, when in actual fact, they are worse.

edited again to add:
Here is the reply to the previous comment. Either these guys are getting "anti-freeped" big time by cunning liberals, or some conservative Repubs have truly reached their limit with the blivet**:
I agree.
I ama Christian and I voted for Bush (Kerry was SO BAD), but I am disgusted.
I always knew the neocons were yankign my chain a little but I've been supportive. No more. I don't like it when peopel play with my mind.
This Jeff gannon or whoever he is is too much. and if he was involved with mcclellan... well that says a lot doesn't it.

and the next comment, a reply to this one:
it may not have been the WH press secretary he was involved with at all, there is some evidence that it was the president himself... even more shocking for such a "good Christian man" that everyone thought him to be! I do believe we may have been taken for a ride by this administration... this is reprehensble!

53. I've been reading through the comments there
Some of them are quite good.

Here's one that's puzzling me:

I hope this particular comment is a joke, because otherwise some winger out there sounds like they are about to implode... :o

I think this is the most useful explanation of just WHY they are so consistently gullible that I've heard so far. They appear to believe it's a virtue.

57. You're right, this comment is a must-read
I didn't scroll down far enough to see it. This poster raises a point about the nature of faith-based politics that we should all be considering: what is the best way to overcome this selective blindness?

59. We need to show them that their pockets are being picked
Once they realize that bush is not all he has been built up to be in their minds... maybe...just maybe they can come back to the real world.

I think once their blinders are off, they'll start seeing all the harm that bush is causing

60. HOW best to show them, that's the question
This needs to be brainstormed from different directions to work out effective, efficient ways of getting the truth out. Different communities may respond best to particular approaches. For example, one might emphasize different points when writing to church organizations compared to teachers' organizations. Letter-to-the-editor campaigns have been studied and there is a lot of info on how to make them most effective.

I agree with you. We need to show them their pockets are being picked while they are being used and lied to by criminals. There needs to be planning and organization around out how to get this message to people who don't rely on the internet for news, let alone the progressive sites like DU.

If the truth is heard, the citizens of this country will turn away from the corrupt politicians and the propaganda mills. It's how best to get past that initial "If" that needs some working out.

67. That is why I'm glad we have Mr. Dean
as our DNC Chairman. He did say recently he was Christian so I think he'd know how to approach those who are pro-Bush Christians and have been blinded by Bush. I'm glad he's outreaching to them in these times where things are coming down from Bush. Of course there will always be people who aren't seeing Bush for what he is, but if our party can get some of those people then 2006/2008 could look bright and maybe we can get back to how things used to be before all this crazy nonsense.

58. ahhh...puts me in mind of Ronnie's UN speech...
Remember him saying (paraphrase), "I often wonder what would happen if all the peoples of the world were threated by an enemy force from the outside; would we unite to fight it"?

Maybe now we know. Except the outside force somehow got on the inside (and I'm not referring to Gannon).

61. The whole "converting republicans" thing.

I was going to post and say "Stop. Just stop." to the not-quite-as-smart-as-you-think posts pretending to be from disillusioned Republicans. I mean, come on, some of them may be real, but some are pretty obvious fakes.

But on second thought, keep it up. As long as the freepers are paranoid about this, they will "call out" anyone who posts anything like this as a liberal plant. Even the few that are sincere. This will further show the paleocons what their party has come to stand for.

So go right ahead.

"Finally there are the blackmail questions which exist for gays who are not “out of the closet”. Was Guckert blackmailing someone associated with the White House? Was somebody blackmailing Guckert or using Guckert’s services to blackmail someone else?"

It sounds to me like it's a set-up for why he was allowed in the White House, they are setting up a patsy to take the blame of getting him in, and it ain't * or Scotty or anyone of importance.

But the comments are encouraging
