The coverage I've seen on television of the Gannon story has been largely to gloss over the circumstances of his presence in the White House. They simply equate him with bloggers and "opinion journalists" and thus miss the implications of his presence at those news conferences. He was clearly part of a concerted effort by the Bush administration to create a fraudulent press corps to distort the public's access to information about their policies. Armstrong is part of that same effort.

Most of the speculation about (Armstrong) Williams’s not-so-secret life comes from a 1997 sexual-harassment lawsuit filed by a former male employee of Williams’s media company.
