2. Both
From all that I have read most or all claim to have a battery backup. I expect this could be used in places where electric is not readily available.

3. voting days are long.....I wondered how the machines stayed powered...
also...withour a paper trail...what if we lose power?

By the way..AC or DC? don't know the answer...I was thinking they may have regular power and battery backup like a lap top..thats all I know
on the subject.

4. I believe they use "Flash" memory
and if power is lost no biggie.

5. I suppose technically we should say battery or wall power
Since they are both electricity. Though battery is DC and wall power is AC. Anyways I suppose they're like laptops: run from wall socket, backup is battery.

6. Since they're computers and have to put in a 12-hour day
my guess would be that they run off the mains, not batteries.

7. I've always seen them plugged into the wall.
As far as battery backup (if it works/isn't tampered with)

Here's a scenario:

What if there were power failures starting in the morning that lasted all day? The battery wouldn't work that long, would it?

Also, what if these outages just happened to be in largely minority areas of otherwise repug states? (ie Atlanta)?

8. Touch Screen Woes
Can't we just do a 'write-in' vote?

9. it's a "type in"
Do do a write-in you type on the screen. At least that's how it is here. Absolutely no paper.

11. Same here
It seems like connecting the machines to a printer would be simple.

Even something like a little receipt size slip.
