"New Wave" of AIDS coming

With the emergence (or hype there-of) of the new stronger AIDS, is anyone yet open to consider that it may be man made?

To me this along with all of the other reich wing stuff looks like we're staring down the barrel of "Genocide's greatest hits". I can just hear the nuts muttering to themselves "if only we had a small pox blanket that predominantly targeted gays and people of color..."

Naah - it's the crazy stuff of conspiracy theories, right?

Aaron Brown is doing a big hit piece on Gays right now - they're all on Crysatal Meth and spreading AIDS rampantly - that is what we are supposed to glean from this...

Has Charled Kaiser, author of The Gay Metropolis. He seems to be a gay advocate blaming all the spreaders of AIDS of being Meth addicts. I guess it's somewhat an honest conversation.

For one thing, our technology isn't adequate to mutating this particular virus by design. It's so fragile that it took years to isolate it, at all.

In the second place, this virus is an exceptionally fast mutator. Although it could have gone the way of influenza and attenuated over time, become a more chronic annoyance than a killer, it seems to have mutated the other way and become more deadly.

Neither meth nor unprotected gay sex has anything to do with the way this thing is mutating (well, as far as we know in the case of meth).

A lot of people didn't take something that took 20+ years to appear and kill very seriously. People in their 20s think being over 40 is next to being dead, anyway, so why bother? The fact that this new strain kills within a couple of years and has no treatment may be just what we need to convince people to use condoms, to protect themselves at all times.

It's gotten very scary out there, and being a faithful spouse is no protection if your partner is stepping out without your knowledge.

I agree that mutation is its power.

The meth angle as it turns out is that many of the most prolific spreaders are meth heads.
