1. Um, looking at the "totals" column, and the major holders,
It shows that they are holding more dollars than a year ago...

2. you sure...
...not from data above. the columns go from near to far (reverse). is that in error? if not, seems to indicate purchase of a great deal of bonds by Japan and UK.

3. this worries me too!
Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have both said publicly that they are shorting the dollar.

This, I thought, was an interesting article on the subject
by Peter Schiff.

7. This is very interesting.
If you go down to the bottom of the chart, and look at the word "Bills". This means cash holdings, or M1 or M2. You can see very clearly that cash holdings have gone down. In November, it was 255.4. In December, it was 244.6.

Bonds, on the other hand, have gone up slightly. Which shouldn't surprise us, because the interest rate is expected to go up.

So it looks like you were correct.

And thanks for posting. This is why I keep coming back. Cuz lo and behold, I learn sumthin I didn't know.:smoke:

10. One month in a 12-month period is not significant--there's a
net increase in cash over the past year.

8. Looks who's not listed, Saudi Arabia
yet they list OPEC, why would they do that? They don't list European Union, they list the individual countries, yet no Saudi Arabia. Very interesting. Isn't OPEC a consortium of oil countries controling oil and not a designation of those countries as, say, European Union?

9. There's something fishy here.
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 12:02 AM by cliss
Thanks for posting. I went back to the chart & found no Saudi Arabia. Also, notice the figure for OPEC. It's only 59 billion. And for Korea, it's BIGGER.

Consider all of our petrodollars, being held by OPEC. We currently burn through 9 million barrels of oil per day. And Korea supposedly is holding 69 billion, 10 billion MORE THAN OPEC? No way in hell is that true.

Someone's lying. Or hiding figures. It's not the first time I've noticed this. I've suspected for a long time that Elaine Chao at the Labor Department was lying about the unemployment figures.

11. No dumping yet
...but notice there is a deceleration in the increase of holdings in from November to December. Certainly related to the weakening dollar during that period. This is something to monitor.
