Gannongate's Eberle ties to Sun Myung Moon's News World
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 01:59 AM by themartyred
Mr. Bobby Eberle of GOPUSA and Talon News, writes his own articles also, and is, "featured in the Washington Times, Human Events, Insight Magazine, and numerous newspapers across the country.", as his biography states (that he deleted off his website but he doesn't understand google has it all cached!! well, he probably knows that now).

Well, Mr. "Christian Coalition", like many of them, didn't know this was all going to blow up, and the most telling info about his biography, for me, is that these papers he's being featured in are none other than REVEREND SUN MYUNG MOON'S! That's right, they're owned by News World, which is his news arm of his Unification Church (I hate that name!!).
This religion doesn't have ANYTHING to do with Christianity, except "Father" as he calls himself, trying and succeeding in getting many Christian churches to remove "the cross for a crown" from their churches! (link below) Yes, he told them the cross is old and he is new, and that he's humanity's only hope, just look his name up if you don't know about him, most do, but you will be amazed at what took place in the halls of congress a few years ago.

Bobby Eberle's biography

Unification Church's "trade the cross for a crown" http://www.tparents.org/UNews/Unws0304/ 123 churches take down cross! "true parents" refers to the "Rev" Sun Myung Moon & his wife, as being the true parents, and this is a Unification Church members site

1. Bad moon
Moon was coronated in America ya know. He is such an asshat.
More than a dozen lawmakers attended a congressional reception this year honoring the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in which Moon declared himself the Messiah and said his teachings have helped Hitler and Stalin be "reborn as new persons."

Wonder...

2. thank you for that link!
The pure hypocrisy of the so called "christian coalition" types, and their bible thumping, is all pure drivel when they support, openly, the "true father" as they call him, Moon...

scary moonies. scary!

3. Moon with Bush, both George, Sr. & Barbara.
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 02:30 AM by NYC

Sun Myung Moon has paid ex-presidents, such as George Herbert Walker Bush up to $10,000,000 for photo-op and endorsements, because his virtually captive followers have very restricted access to news. They are told that everybody Moon shakes hands with has accepted Moon as their lord and savior. This global slave labor force replenishes a $10 million expense for faked stage setting photo-op in a couple of days.

I remember reading that Barbara Bush got paid by Moon for speaking engagements.

5. toxic charisma
The authoritarian bullies tool that makes people of decent morals stand by while he abuses trust until he possesses it all from under us.

A person who has that much manipulation abilty blind syncophants and charisma is nothing but a sociopath.Never trust people like moon.
No matter how persuasive, nice or better than others they appear, they have no empathy for you as they send thier charismatic control to seize your heart with "faith" and rob you blind as you trust them.

8. Why?
He strikes me as a lunatic. Why should he have power with these people? The only thing I can figure is that he has power over hordes (millions?) of people. He seems to have the capability to brainwash people. I guess that would be valuable to them.

Is that the reason?

20. Moon has access to seemingly unlimited amounts of money
He's dropped a billion dollars on the Washington Times alone since its founding in 1982. It isn't at all clear what the sources of his funding are -- scamming little old ladies, involvement in the international drug trade, or possibly the legendary World War II hoards of Japanese gold. But the results are very clear. Moon can buy anybody and anything he wants, and most of the New Right is in his pocket.

Moon has also been extremely clever about knowing just where to apply his money and who is most worth buying. In the course of thirty years, he's gone from just buying up-and-coming YAF types to buying heads of state.

The interesting question is what he does next.

6. I wonder if Talon is connected to Moon? Now that would be interesting.
If Moon is showcasing Eberle, I'll bet Eberle is in the organization. I'm also betting that coronation goes past Senator Warner and into the WH.

Bush, Sr. might be getting paid, but he might be blackmailed as well. Go back to the posts that Minstral Boy put up recently about the WH scandal involving gay prostitution and midnight tours. That made huge headlines in the Moonie Times and suddenly, the case disappears. Hmmmmm.

And don't forget the Christian Right's ties with the Moonies. Falwell got bailed out financially a few years back when he big money with Liberty U.

7. KICK, so I can maybe get some more info from the DU experts
there are people on here who seem to turn up info. the comments about Eberle and his probable inclusion in the Moonnuts' Uni-church could be further info for this.

Because like NYC posted above, there has been BIG money paid to Bush and others for photo ops, God in heaven I wish I could get my hands on the smoking gun for all this.....

It goes so deep. two peeps get this in the bigger chat area if you would, because there's gonna be more about this whole GANNONGATE, we just gotta piece it together. I thought I'd help by being the first to post this Eberle-Moon connection I saw on another smaller site.

THANKS!

I think this is very important stuff. My thinking turned to Moon, too, when the Gannon story broke last week. (In a round about way, via the old Craig Spence White House call boy scandal.) That Eberle is tied to Moon brings it full circle.

If ordinary, conservative Christians only knew, but they don't: the "Christian Right" has been wholly co-opted by Moon, who heads a criminal empire of money laundering and guns and narcotics trafficking, and is one of the Bush family's paymasters.

10. Kerri Houston and Frontiers of Freedom
I did these three posts on one of the other Gannon threads a few days ago, but it got kind of lost, so it seems worth repeating here where the primary focus is on the Moon connection:

Kerri Houston, one of the GOPUSA board members, is also connected with the American Conservative Union and is Vice President of Policy for an anti-environmental group called Frontiers of Freedom:

http://www.exxonsecrets.org/html/orgfactsheet.php?id=35

In 1996, former Senator Malcolm Wallop (R-WY) started Frontiers of Freedom to fight environmental regulations, particularly the Endangered Species Act and any law seen as infringing on "property rights." Frontiers of Freedom calls itself the "antithesis" of the green movement.

FoF has strong ties to the western "wise use" movement, and is part of the Alliance for America Network and the Grassroots ESA Coalition. FoF runs The Center for Free Market Environmentalism and Conservation (ff.org/centers/cfmec.html) and The Center for Science and Public Policy.

Frontiers of Freedom receives money from ExxonMobil and is also funded by the usual right-wing foundations. (Scaife, Bradley, Olin, etc.) See http://www.mediatransparency.org/search_results/info_on_any_recipientpientID=133

Frontiers of Freedom is also known for having brought suit to withdraw the Rainforest Action Network's tax-exempt status. See:
http://www.organicconsumers.org/Corp/RANBoise.cfm
http://www.globalpolicy.org/ngos/role/globdem/globprot/2001/0621irs.htm

Malcolm Wallop, who founded Frontiers of Freedom, is a senior fellow with the Heritage Foundation, a signatory of the Project for a New American Century, and a heavy supporter of missile defense. He's associated with the Heritage Foundation's Asian Studies Center, founded by another PNAC signer, Richard V. Allen, and has particularly close ties with the Republic of Korea. See http://rightweb.irc-online.org/ind/wallop/wallop.php

Oh, and there's a Reverend Moon connection for the Asian Studies Center. (Isn't there always?)

http://watch.pair.com/heritage.html

The 1975 Congressional investigation of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) activities in the U.S. noted a connection between Heritage and the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Edwin J. Feulner, Jr. was recruited in 1977 by Richard Scaife to become Heritage president, a position he holds today . . .

<snip>

In the early 1980s, the KCIA began making donations to Heritage Foundation. In turn, Heritage established an Asian Studies Center which The Nation magazine of 1/23/89 states "has quartered apologists for Chun's regime."

The Wall Street Journal of August 1995 does not mention Sun Myung Moon, but references the Korea Foundation, one of Heritage's largest donors and an affiliate of the South Korean government. The article clearly states that Heritage Foundation promotes and actually writes pro-Korean legislation.

12. Frontiers of Freedom and Lynn Francis Bouchey
Bouchey is a long-time Moon operative, and it turns out he's also involved with Frontiers of Freedom.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Conservatives_target_the_Rainforest_Action_Network

On the 11 June {2001}, Wallop updated the attack from earlier in the year. In the National Review he attacked the "Enemy": "Combining illegal and legal, violent and non-violent tactics, these so-called "green" revolutionaries employ Lenin's tactical code: Conceal one's true objectives, and mobilize "useful idiots." Led by the likes of Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and Rainforest Action Network this cult of the latter-day Left crusades against every consumer, marketer, or developer of natural resource-based products. No producer or consumer is immune. They target people who drink milk, use electricity, live in a home built of wood or consume paper products made of wood, drive a car, take Viagra, or enjoy seedless watermelon."

In fact Wallop, and his co-author, L. Francis Bouchey, also from the Frontiers of Freedom Institute, used the old Wise Use analogy that environmentalists were all watermelons, green on the outside, but red inside. Under the headline "From Red to Green?" they noted that within recent history there was "The lineage from red to green to eco-radicalism and violence."

Bouchey, who started off in Young Americans for Freedom back in the 60's, had connections with Moon by 1975. In the 80's, he was associated with such Moon-related groups as CAUSA and the American Freedom Coalition. He was also the leader of the Council for Inter-American Security, a group with extensive ties to Moon that had a great deal of input into Reagan's Latin American policy and his support for the Contras.

I'd been wondering what Bouchey had been doing with himself since the 80's, but I can't say I'm exactly happy to see him show up here. Given his history, his presence is an almost sure sign of some degree of Moon involovement.

The real question, of course, is whether there's any connection between GOPUSA and Frontiers of Freedom, aside from their having Kerri Houston in common.

22. Wallop, Bouchey, and the Council for Inter-American Security
I'd never heard of the Council for Inter-American Security until last October, when in the course of a thread on Carlton Sherwood, producer of "Stolen Honor," it came out that Sherwood had written a whitewash of Reverend Moon which had originally been published by Roger Fontaine. Googling on Fontaine revealed that back in the 80's he had been a member of CIS, led by long-time Moon supporter Lynn Francis Bouchey.

CIS was closely associated at that time with the the World Anti-Communist League, which was the Reagan administration's primary conduit for illicit aid to the Contras. The two groups had much in common, including their shared associations with Reverend Moon. And I just found out that the membership of CIS also included Malcolm Wallop:

http://www.publiceye.org/huntred/Hunt_For_Red_Menace-11.html

General John "Jack" Singlaub gained national attention when he testified before the joint Congressional committee investigating Iran-Contragate on his role in Contra fundraising. That Committee never pursued Singlaub's ties to the World Anti-Communist League, which networks not only anti-communists but racists, anti-Semites, fascists and even a handful of aging Nazi collaborators.

<snip>

Singlaub is also on the Advisory Board of the Council for Inter-American Security, the group that brags about how it infiltrates meetings of "leftists" to spy on activists. Another CIS Board member is columnist Patrick J. Buchanan, who played the role of the pit bull terrier for the Reagan Administration. Other CIS Board members include Congressmen and Senators such as Sen. Jack Kemp, Rep. Bill Chappell, Sen. Malcolm Wallop, and Rep. Vin Weber.

I still don't know whether Frontiers of Freedom is "behind" GOPUSA, or if they just have an extremely friendly relationship and one shared board member. But just discovering that both Wallop and Bouchey (who is technically something like an adjunct fellow of Frontiers of Freedom) go back together to the CIS days is more than enough to get my tinfoil working overtime. :tinfoilhat:

16.  Yet another Moon/Frontiers of Freedom connection
This is from a a message board thread of a year ago discussing a 1998 news release by the "Science & Environmental Policy Project" attacking the Kyoto Treaty. (The link doesn't post properly, so to view it, take out the space before the ";" and paste it into your browser.)

http://www.newsrake.com/index.php?board=4 ;action=display;threadid=670

The Science & Environmental Policy Project was founded in 1990 by atmospheric physicist S. Fred Singer on the premise that sound, credible science must form the basis for health and environmental decisions that affect millions of people and cost tens of billions of dollars every year.

http://www.sepp.org/abtsepp.html

S. Fred (in full Siegfried Frederick) Singer (b. 1924) is President of The Science & Environmental Policy Project, a non-profit policy research group he founded in 1990. He is also Distinguished Research Professor at George Mason University and professor emeritus of environmental science at the University of Virginia.

Singer is also a director of The Washington Institute for Values in Public Policy, a group founded by the Unification Church in 1982, and an Adjunct Fellow of "Frontiers of Freedom" (http://www.ff.org/about/staff.html ).

And further down, there's a quote from the Frontiers of Freedom webpage about Kerri Houston. (The boldface and comments in parentheses are the original poster's.)

Kerri Houston, Vice President of Policy

Kerri Houston is a public policy analyst and expert in media, marketing and external relations for public policy institutes. Her areas of expertise include tax, social security reform, and healthcare. Prior to joining Frontiers of Freedom, Ms. Houston served as National Field Director for the American Conservative Union. She was also executive director of State Policy Network and director of external affairs for Dallas' Institute for Policy Innovation. A strong proponent of individual and economic liberty, Ms. Houston is a Brain Trust columnist for Investor's Business Daily, and her opeds have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times - (note - Moonie owned), The Dallas Morning News, Forbes magazine, Intellectual Ammunition, and numerous other print, internet and institutional publications. She has appeared on Fox News and MSNBC, and was a frequent guest on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. Ms. Houston is a member of the National Paycheck Protection Working Group and an advisor to the Texas Conservative Coalition's Health and Human Services Task Force. She serves on the Board of Directors for GOPUSA.com (surprised?) and the Board of Advisors for The Project for California's Future. She was also nominated to serve on the President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security. Well known for her dedication to presenting public policy in a way that will "pass the dinner table test," Ms. Houston brings a sharp wit and a practical spin to her areas of expertise.

17. Fred Singer
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 12:18 PM by starroute
http://www.uow.edu.au/arts/sts/sbeder/ecologist2.html

Fred Singer is executive director of the think tank, the Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP). This project was originally set up in 1990 with the help of the Washington Institute for Values in Public Policy (funded by the Rev Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church) which provided it with free office space. (SEPP is no longer affiliated with Moon and receives its funding from various foundations.)

http://implants.clic.net/tony/Article/016.html

The Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP), run by former University of Virginia professor Dr. S. Fred Singer, has extensive ties to fossil fuels industries. On a Nightline program in February, 1994, it was revealed that Singer has accepted "consulting fees from Exxon, Shell, Arco, Unocal and Sun Oil." According to Ozone Action, an environmental organization, SEPP has also received funding from Monsanto, Philip Morris, and Texaco. Singer appeared as a witness during a 1995 Congressional ozone depletion hearing, claiming to have published several peer-reviewed papers on his theories about the huge ozone hole over the South Pole. When Congressional staff checked his references, they found that Singer's only published work on ozone depletion during the past 20 years had been one letter to the editor of SCIENCE magazine, and two articles in magazines that are not peer reviewed. Singer is a regular columnist in the Washington Times, a publication owned by the Reverend Sun Myung Moon's far right Unification Church, where he has written many articles on climate change issues. In fact, Rush Limbaugh claims to get his information about the ozone depletion from sources that have been traced back to Singer (Rachel's Environment & Health Weekly, #522, November 28, 1996).

18. George C. Landrith, president of Frontiers of Freedom
http://www.reachm.com/amstreet/archives/2004/08/30/tracing-a-smear-artist/

August 30, 2004
Tracing a Smear Artist

Some of you know that I’ve been writing for some time about hearing planted stories — anonymous callers to talk shows, letters-to-editors, forwarded e-mail letters, etc. - saying Kerry cuts in front of lines and says “Do you know who I am?” I’ve been saying this obviously is part of a coordinated smear campaign. Well, I think the following adds some weight to what I have been suspecting. Take a look at John Kerry: Uppity Rich Guy with a Superiority Complex:

“In Boston, where the junior senator from Massachussets lives when he’s not skipping Senate votes, John Kerry stories are commonplace. Most of these stories involve Kerry pulling rank on a “little guy,” cutting to the front of the line, expecting special treatment, or demanding something for free. When confronted about his behavior, Kerry defiantly asks, “Do you know who I am?” Evidently, Kerry believes that once the “little people” understand how important he is, they will simply back down and shut up.”

The piece then goes on for a bit about the author of this quote, George C. Landrith, the various organizations with which he is involved, and their right-wing funding. And it concludes with this:

I just wanted to show how the Right’s smear machine, funded by a small core group of funders, employs people like this, (so many), setting them up in think tanks or other jobs, paying them (very well) to crank this stuff out, citing their stuff at their OTHER think tanks and organizations to give them an aura of credibility, and then spreading this awful, smelly stuff around through every channel through which people receive information, poisoning the national debate, always pushing, pushing, pushing the public further and further to the right. There are billions of dollars at work behind this stuff.

<snip>

Just for fun, from a Moonie thing, a story with another form of the same smear, “The talk about Hillary Rodham Clinton <. . .> There was that business about her primping while the troops stood waiting in the chow line for a half-hour and then cutting in front of them to scoop up her Thanksgiving dinner. Then she smeared and attacked their commander in chief and told them no one at home supported the war.” All those damn rich liberal elitists, cutting in front of regular people like us… That line must have focus-group tested as well as “only served four months in Vietnam.”

The final quote about Hillary is from Insight Magazine -- http://www.insightmag.com/news/2003/12/23/Features/The-Insider-573616.shtml -- a Moon front for which (as mentioned in the post which started this thread) Bobby Eberle writes as well.

What all this suggests to me is that the operations which circulate Republican campaign smears are also identical to those which circulate general right-wing talking points -- and that the Moon publications form a significant part of this network. We shouldn't get distracted into thinking that "Gannon" points only at the White House. He's an important pointer towards the general right-wing propaganda machine as well.

21. Malcolm Wallop and Armstrong Williams
http://www.prwatch.org/node/3185

Conservative pundit Armstrong Williams has been under fire recently following revelations that he was paid $240,000 to promote the Bush administration's "No Child Left Behind" law. However, it isn't the first time that his media interests have been used as a mouthpiece for hidden interests.

Internal tobacco industry documents reveal that in 1996 Williams allowed his nationally syndicated radio program, The Right Side, to be guest hosted by Malcolm Wallop, the chairman of Frontiers of Freedom (FoF), a front group partly funded by tobacco companies.

Wallop proceeded to spend one third of the three-hour program as a platform to criticise a Food and Drug Administration rule aimed at restricting tobacco industry marketing aimed at youth, calling the rule an "abridgement of First Amendment rights."

A Roster of the Dead
This is a list of bodies, a roster of the dead, who might have been called Witnesses had they not met their untimely ends. Some of the names on this list will give you pause. Some are rumor. Some you may find incredible, and some frightening. Do your own research. You will draw your own conclusions. We make no assertion but this:

There is not enough time to compile a list of the thousands who have died and who will die under CIA-backed government actions, or in wars started by a lust for oil or power, and fed by the bodies of young men who believe the media propaganda.

George W. Bush is the face of the ruling elite who couldn't care less about the masses, especially if the masses get in the way of their greed. The evil that was present in Nazi Germany is present in his heritage, and now present in America. God help us all.

19. Here is a Washington Post artice from 1982.
The Nation's Capital Gets
A New Daily Newspaper
By Elisabeth Bumiller
Special to The Washington Post
Monday, May 17, 1982; Page C01

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/longterm/cult/unification/wtimes.htm

For a little background...

snip
Yesterday was the first day of deadline at The Washington Times, the newspaper owned by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's controversial Unification Church.
snip
The Washington Times is not just any newspaper. Commonly referred to as "the Moonie paper" since its plans were announced, it is supported by the religious movement that Moon founded in Korea 28 years ago. Preaching "The Divine Principle," Moon sees himself as the new Messiah and Korea as God's chosen country. Since the church emerged in the United States in the early 1970s, questions have been raised about its finances, its suspected ties to the Korean CIA and its alleged brainwashing of young recruits. It is now an international business empire that encompasses entertainment, fishing, food retailing, publishing and, for a time, the Diplomat National Bank here.

Robert Boettcher, the staff director of a 1978 House subcommittee investigation into Korean-American relations, says the church aims at creating a global theocracy that Moon would control.
snip
If we can manipulate seven nations at least," Moon was quoted as saying in a speech reported by the House subcommitee investigators, "then we can get hold of the whole world: the United States, England, France, Germany, Soviet Russia, and maybe Korea and Japan." Moon, the 62-year-old father of 13 who is said to live on a sprawling New York estate, is now on trial for federal tax evasion. Jo Ann Harris, the prosecutor, said in her summation to the court in New York last week that Moon is guilty of "greed, arrogance and power." The jury begins its third day of deliberations this morning.
snip
Whelan, 48, was the key to attracting the veteran journalists. He is the highly respected, politically conservative editor who worked for Richard Mellon Scaife, the owner of the Sacramento Union. Whelan was first approached by associates of Pak just before last Christmas. Soon after, he met with Pak. "I liked him instantly," Whalen says. "He's a very decent guy, I have discovered. We hit it off."
