20. I don't think so.
Although relations between Lebanon and Israel are cool, Israel doesn't need Lebanon to become unstable again. Also, the person killed was on the platform of getting Syria out of Lebanon, which is really what Israel wants. Even if the assassination makes Syria look bad, it does nothing for Israel. However, the US would stand to benefit from a destabilized Lebanon and making Syria out to be an enemy. Relations between Israel and Syria have also greatly improved over the years, so again, Israel would not want a hostile Syria. Me thinks this has the smelly fingerprints of our own country.

22. I'm not so sure
If Hariri is killed that ratchets up the pressure on Syria to leave Lebanon which Israel wants. If he lives, the pressure is less and Syria stays. The Mossad could care less if Hariri has concomitant interests.

But it could be the US as well. Or Hezbollah.

I really doubt it is Syria.

3. I wonder if the Ex-PM had decided to move slower in his move towards
whatever bushco wanted of him. So Bushco makes thie hit and gets 2 birds with one bomb. They get someone who was going back on their promises out of the way and two destablization of the Syrian-Lebanon relations.

5. Speculation could be dangerous at this point. Give them a while
to investigate.

Personally - I think the USA was saber rattling a little too hard the day before the assassination to be guilty of complicity. That would just be too obvious. But - I speculate.

10. Divert Attention From Iraq via Iran & Syria
The more trouble we create in those countries the more it shields this regime and its pillage of Iraq. Notice how little we're hearing about what's going on in Mosul or Tikrit these days...it's beat the drum on Iran & Syria.

Syria especially salivates the PNACers as it's two birds with one Assad. And the fact the ambassador was pulled and a resolution rammed through the U.N. sent the red flags up here.

I agree with Mahrer the other night that the military isn't up for a fight in either country, but this people didn't really want to go to Iraq in 2002, but that changed with some good regime misinformation.

14. Well they would have had to recruit a suicide bomber
cuz that sure is what it seems to have been.
It would have taken duping some poor guy that this was his jihad mission. (I'm not saying it couldn't have been done)

15. I posted this message on the PNAC & Neocon Agenda group
but it is highly relevant.

Remember those of us who opposed the unjustified and unwarranted Iraq war (and the selection of the current neocon gang before that), saw a similar linking of coincidences matching the PNAC/ neocon agenda. which should at least give pause to accepting any kind of official description of what took place.

Heres the link:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=307x62

At this moment I'm not 100% sure it was us, the Mossad, or a combo, maybe something else entirely (which is most likely... I'm sure)?? I do know that even if it was a suicide bomber, that it doesn't mean it is clean and clear of any possible neocon/likkud links.

The coincidence factor needs to be examined thoroughly any way you cut it.

As an aside please help and grow this new group at DU. The best and probably only way to bring down the neocons is through doing research and informing everyone you can of your findings.

peace...
