Another Republican scandal is sinking into oblivion.
How does this happen? Does anyone know? Gannon/Guckert/Bulldog-gate is barely a blip on the radar. Judging by MSM nonreporting, no one particularly cares this character was allowed into the White House and was within feet of the POTUS, asking his questions directly. What am I missing? We lived with that stained blue dress for more than a year. You would've thought Clinton was the devil presiding over earth . . . is the Democratic memory so short we don't remember? So we finally get a bona fide scandal in the Bush administration and it turns out to be as limp as a Bulldog when the $1200 check bounces. Has there been a peep out of any of our ELECTED Democratic officials on this matter? They should keep one thing in mind. If this character was a major player on their staff and this stuff came to light, they'd be run out of town on a rail by every Republican in the House and Senate. Guaranteed.

2. All I can say is that the bloggers are the new Woodward and
Bernstein. If you've ever watched 'All the President's Men' you'll see that for months and months and months they were doggedly pursuing the Nixon story when nobody else wanted to touch it. And it gradually got bigger and bigger.

That's that the left wing bloggers are doing - all the investigative work. You never know - this thing could blow up.

Yes, there were two inquiries made so far... One Senator and congress
person I believe. Others here know more.

27. The real kicker is that they "cooled" because he went from...
being a suspected hooker to a real hooker.

As God is my witness, that is they excuse they're giving. Don't worry if it doesn't make a lick of sense to you. It's got me completely stymied.

30. No Investigation Will Ever See The Light Of Day
This is why the Democrats and other non-Repugnicans need to set up, fund and support and organization that will use the courts to do what our government won't...investigate with some teeth.

There's a laundry list of people and scandals to dig through now...and having people testify under oath and in front of juries will put a lot more fear of god into the corporate media than some Congressional posturing that will be ridiculed by the right wing and "librul" whining and that's what the echo chamber will state.

There's a strong need for someone with the legal smarts and stones to press some civil suits and through the use of discovery and FOIA, we'll get a lot more a lot faster than a Congressional or Senate investigation. If you don't turn over materials to a house committee, they call you nasty names on C-SPAN, if you fail to meet a court-ordered subpoena, your ass goes in the slammer.

The GOOP used this tactic against Clinton...it kept the Paula Jones story alive and we saw what happened there.

OMFG!

The propaganda networks would be on this 24/7, demanding resignations or impeachment.

The hypocrisy and double standards are unbelievable.

15. they didnt start with the blue dress it was all they could find
and after 70m that was what the american people paid for the blue dress. the only thing the repugs could say, given that is all they had on clinton was, he lied about sex.........he lied i tell you, not the sex but the lie

but i agree, the lying, changing studies and reports, the total ugliness adn criminality of this administration and yet another one sinks.

18. Catherine Crier on Court TV just did a segment on it.
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 05:59 PM by Zenlitened
She was ragin' pissed that the story is getting so little attention. She raised all the angles, including Plame, and also ridiculed Howie Kurtz for his lame efforts to dismiss the whole thing.

Guests were liberal blogger who broke (?) the story, and some repuke shill from WSJ who tried -- and FAILED! -- to dismiss it, too.

Over all tone of the segment, from what I saw, was good: this stinks, it's a security issue, and the media sucks for not covering it.

Progress. :)

22. That's why this differs from Clinton and Lewinsky.
It IS a security matter. In a time when Rummy comes on the tube to tell us the terrorists are still plotting, the White House is admitting a guy who uses a pseudonym, has a half-assed journalistic career going at a half-assed news site and is apparently advertising himself via naked photos on the Internet . . . and who knows what else. It's mind blowing.

That's it. That is the answer. The System of Checks and Balances has been smashed like a watch with a hammer. All that remains is the Ghost Echo and Inertia, really.

However fast the Busheviks and their demented progeny want to move (how fast they think they can get away with moving) us to Full orwellian Totalitarianism is how fast we'll move there.

Already pretty close on many fronts.
