Senator Harkin needs your help right now with funding for Cancer research.
Just heard from the American Cancer Society asking for help with the Harkin/Specter Ammendment to Labor, Health, and Human Services appropriations to increase funding for Cancer Research by 9%. In discussing this with Senator Brownback’s office this morning, I was informed that that would be a 9% increase across the board in that budget category. I said health is good, so it deserves an across the board increase, and I hope Senator Brownback stands up to those of his constituents who have been known to pressure our elected representatives to reject such legislation on the grounds of a single “women’s health” issue. I also mentioned how much cancer all of us are seeing these days, so there really are a lot of people out there who care about this. I asked Brownback’s staff person to let me know how he votes on the Harkin/Specter Ammendment. I will follow-up with all of you.

I can also see how cancer research could relate significantly to Veterans’ issues. Please do what you can. Here’s ALL of the contact information : http://congress.org/congressorg/home/ . It helps if you refer to the Harkin/Specter Ammendment to increase Labor, HHS appropriations.
