Gannon Reported for GOPUSA News in February 2003
Barbour Announces Run for Mississippi Governor
By Jeff Gannon
GOPUSA News
February 19, 2003

YAZOO CITY, MS (GOPUSA News) -- Former Republican National Committee Chairman Haley Barbour announced that he would be running for governor of Mississippi. The 55 year-old Washington lawyer and lobbyist, who once served as a political advisor to President Ronald Reagan, has decided to return to Mississippi "because I know we can do better."

After one of several speeches around the state, Barbour pointed out, "This state has spent like a drunken sailor. Drunken sailors should be offended by the comparison."

Barbour said state government had fallen "from its strongest fiscal condition ever to the worst financial crisis in our state's history." Barbour said his campaign would focus on "prioritizing spending" and fighting "any and all tax increases." He declared that "to raise taxes while government is on a spending binge is only feeding the beast."

Barbour is the first Republican to announce his intention to run against the incumbent Democrat Ronnie Musgrove. If Barbour were to win, he would become only the second Republican elected governor of Mississippi since Reconstruction.

realized how obvious that was and created Talon News?

12. Gannon and gopusa
Scroll way down to read this comment.

There's a bit more to the Talon-GOPUSA connection:
For several months at the beginning of 2003, before the creation of Talon, many of Jeff Gannon's articles carried the words "GOPUSA news" instead of "Talon News". (Other articles he wrote at the time were for groups like Boot to the Skull)
The ip address for www.talonnews.com is 65.17.231.174. The ip addres for www.gopusa.com is 65.17.231.173, inside the same CIDR block, which indicates that the servers are most likely sitting next to each other (or on the same computer).
A reverse lookup on the address for www.talonnews.com produces the name 'listsrv.gopusa.com'
Talon, GOPUSA, and the CIDR block they belong to are owned by one Bobby Eberle.
FWIW, Dan Froomkin of the Washington Post started writing about Jeff Gannon on an irregular basis almost a year ago.

14. Doing your own DNS search is easy
This is a little lesson for the masses:

1: Go to the link here. This will access a WHOIS database site.

2: Follow the instructions on the page, and enter the IP address or domain name (omit the www part).

3: Sit back and watch as the entry is spelled out.

I love technology, I really do.

What I Want For Christmas
Dear Santa,
I like to think that I have been good this year so I hope you will do your best to bring me all the following gifts and to fulfill all the requests I have. You're the man Santa and just remember who leaves the 12 pack of the good beer by the fireplace for you.
<snip>
For Jeff Gannon, The Conservative Guy, please deliver to him a uniform from the US Border Patrol and a permission slip to spend two months working in El Centro,CA. Then we can finally get him to realize why the Department of Homeland Security is doomed to failure.
<snip>
That's all I can think of right now Santa. I hope it is not too tall of an order for you. I figure you can handle it since you farmed out all the production work to Mexico after NAFTA was passed.
On second thought you can take my list and shove it up your fat ass. By busting up Elves' Toymakers Local 104 you proved yourself to be just as bad as our President. But can you drop all the coal in Joe's office? His is the one two doors down from mine. Thanks Santa.
P.S. I hear the Adkin's diet works really well. You should try it.

Jeff Gannon
Since our little site is now being quoted on many different sites regarding the recent incident at a White House press conference I figured I would clear things up.
1. Jeff Gannon, aka The Conservative Guy, did write for BTTS a few years back. His articles were insightful, well-written, and much-appreciated addition to our site.
2. Boot to the Skull is named after an Adam Sandler comedy routine which was the basis for the name of my college radio show.
3. Boot to the Skull is not a cult.
4. Boot to the Skull is not anti-immigrant, we are anti-illegal immigrant.
5. We are not now, nor have we ever been affiliated with Talon News.
We support Jeff Gannon in his current struggles and will provide him whatever support we can. Should anyone have any further questions or points that need clarifying, please feel free to contact me

22. New DNS search results by UL_Approved
After doing a little DNS searching, I found that GOPUSA and Talon News also share the same IP address block as millionsofamericans.org and a new site called libertybellkids.com.

I also found that the whole thing is under a company called Endeavor Media Group, LLC. I'm sure that the company is bogus, since the telephone number is 999-999-9999. Here is a little DNS listing:

Here are some pictures.

This confirms Dana Milbank's account (none / 0)

"You've stated that you think you've seen Gannon with a "hard press" pass. What is the visual difference between a hard pass and a daily pass?
A hard pass has your photo and news org and name on it. A daily pass is just a brown and white striped pass that says, "Press," on it and comes on a dog-tag style chain. Note that the one Gannon wears in the footage on TV is a blue lanyard - not the sort of thing a day pass comes on."

From SusanG's interview posted today with Dana Millbank. (The interview took place before the revelations of JG's escort service were up on AMERICAblog.) What "news org" would have been on that pass on Feb. 28, 2003?

Remember what MoDo said in the NYT today
"At first when I tried to complain about not getting my pass renewed, even though I'd been covering presidents and first ladies since 1986, no one called me back. Finally, when Mr. McClellan replaced Ari Fleischer, he said he'd renew the pass - after a new Secret Service background check that would last several months."

Daschle Stumps at Dem Convention
By Jeff Gannon
Talon News
July 28, 2004

(Talon News) -- Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) made a brief appearance before the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night and predicted that his party will take control of the White House and the Senate in November. He pledged to "get America back on the right track," when he again becomes majority leader.

Daschle has kept the Senate from doing much of anything through the use of filibusters. Last year, the minority leader allowed the energy bill to die, even though it contained a provision for ethanol use, an issue important to the farmers of his own state of South Dakota.

He has also prevented the Senate from voting on a constitutional amendment that would ban homosexual marriage by defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman and a measure to rein in excessive jury awards. Daschle has also stopped the Senate from giving an up-or-down vote to ten of President Bush's judicial nominees, several of whom were nominated over two years ago.

The South Dakota senator talked about health care, outsourcing, and prescription drugs -- chief Democratic talking points. He voiced a populist theme saying that his constituents "reject the defeatist view that we have enough money to rebuild Iraq, but can't afford to take care of our needs here."

26. Was "Gannon" On The White House Plane?
Someone posted a picture that looked like "Gannon" at a Bushbot rally last year...and I would assume as a "member of the White House Press Corp" he would have gone on some of these travels.

One that just came to mind was Commander Bunnypant's "surprise" visit to Iraq in Thanksgiving, 2003. IIRC, the press was assembled secretly and the announcement of his "trip" wasn't announced until he had landed in Baghdad. And, I'm certain it was Faux who got the scoop. Was our boy Jeff/James along for the ride?

Methinks a close look at the White House travel office might really be needed.
